St. Olaf class of 2019

Decisions were mailed yesterday for rd, surprisingly it arrived today-S2 is accepted! Financial info other than merit aid scholarship comes about 2 weeks.

If you don’t mind me asking, but what does your portal say? Mine is asking for a $300 deposit, but I’m not sure if I got in…

That’s what S’s portal says also, and it was not there last night when he checked. Looks like good news for you @swimtowin162‌ !

My D received acceptance yesterday. Expected to receive some merit aid with the acceptance (not financial aid). After scouring website it looks like they give most merit aid out to applicants who apply ED. Does anyone have any insight on this? Her academic stats are good and she has very good Extracurriculars/volunteer/leadership. Is merit aid a possibility at this late date?

I thought they notified students with letter of admission for the highest merit aid available (presidential, Buntrock competition).

S received 15k per year merit aid notice with his acceptance letter, and letter mentioned that notification of need based aid will come by March 27.

Thank you Marylandfour. My daughter wouldn’t have qualified for their top aid but figured she would’ve been offered something. Congrats to your son.

Could anyone share stats? I should get a letter soon but I think I’m on the wait list. My portal wasn’t updated about the deposit and usually that’s a deciding factor. Of course I could get flat rejected but my SAT scores are above their 75 percentile.

I received an email today and I am waitlisted unfortunately. They state that their applicant pool this year is too large for the available spot. Do you know the tendency of rejecting or accepting waitlist student here? I’m kind of worry since my SAT and GPA are not really outstanding, I’m an intl’ student and I also ask for a large amount of FA(15K a year)

@GiamNam I got wait listed too as I suspected. I think it’s kind of stupid how colleges do it where they won’t release their decison online but they make a specific change to everyone’s portal if they are accepted. I mean I know that sounds whiny but that’s the third time it’s happened to me and I’d rather just know the information upfront. Anyway last year they accepted 75 of 467 students who accepted a place on the wait list. That’s not too bad at all so I’d definitely accept if you still want to go. I’m getting my response in the mail now. I don’t know how they make decisions off the wait list but I emailed my admissions rep asking. I’m worried too thought. I’m a US student but my 0 EFC means I’ll cost them a lot.

I applied last year. Got rejected. Got determined and did everything again. Applied ED this year. Got deferred. Kept waiting and praying. Got rejected yesterday. Wow Olaf, lol…
Luckily I got into somewhere else with my need met.

Phongtheha, I hope things go well at your school.

Accepted! 3.4 GPA, 28 ACT, out of state. I’m a music student with tons of extracurriculars, and I visited and interviewed with the Director of Admissions. I’m waiting for a few more letters but this was one of my top choices!

guys i’m accepted to st. olaf but there are high chances that i won’t attend. so if you’re waitlisted go accept that spot

St. Olaf Class of 2019. Greeting from Vietnam (or Georgia really, cause I go to school there).

Are any of you going to admitted student days this month?

@onceuponamom, we were hoping to visit, but 3 other schools also have visit days the 11th, and the following one is prom. Not sure when we can go. Logistically, this is the most challenging school for us to visit.

Where do you get the temporary pin to access your account?

@llawilson‌, it was in an email sent right after my S completed step 1 of the application. If you don’t have it you should call the admissions office.

@Marylandfour- would love to chat with you as I know tons about St. Olaf and my daughter is picking between there and U Richmond and UMD College Park- you keep coming up in different threads that I see!
