St. Paul's or Groton

Is it easier to get accepted to Groton or St. Paul's this year. I was wait-listed for St.Paul's.

I think with a lot of these schools, it comes down to “fit”. They all want to build a profile of some kind. If you’re a pretty good baseball player and SPS is looking to fill in one more spot, you have a good chance. If you’re the same baseball player but Groton already has a full team with great reserves, then it would be harder.

When I was making my decision it was between Andover and St. Paul’s. I picked Andover because of the big school thing, but Groton and St. Pauls are a little closer. One thing I can tell you is that the new headmaster at Groton for next year is the nicest man ever. Mr. Maq was my chem tutor here at Andover and has so many great stories and helpful tips for getting through school and the most entertaining accent (he is a black expatriate of South Africa who moved to America some 30 years ago).

If I could do it all over again, I might apply to Groton just so I could follow Mr. Maq (and Mrs. Maq, my track coach)!

Good luck!
