St. Paul's School Concord NH

Class of 2017!!! I loved the Spring Revisit!!

Yay Blessemy!!!

Welcome to SPS! PM me any time if you (or your parents) have any questions. I love to talk about SPS!

Congrats and welcome!!! Prepare yourself for awesomeness. Also feel free to PM me with any questions. I’ve already met some of your formmates-to-be
Form of '17 will be a fun group! :)

Heard second hand that SPS is slightly overenrolled for this coming year. Haven’t heard the yield but it must look good.

I mean, SPS is such an amazing school who would say no?!

I’ve also heard about minor over-enrollment
They’re going to be turning the biggest doubles into triples next year and are looking for students to create triples. It won’t be too bad, but it looks like we won’t see much action on the wait list.

There are always questions from prospective students and families about SPS Chapel and what it entails. Here’s a link to a recent speech from a current 6th former. It’s reflective of the talent and maturity common in many 6th formers at SPS. It also shows the friendships and support from faculty to students, albeit in a jesting way here. Moments like this are why Chapel is one of the favorite aspects of SPS for my own children and a great way to start the day. The beauty of the building itself is inspiring as well. It’s 12 minutes but worth watching in its entirety, but at least watch from 6:18 until the end. Enjoy!

About the over-enrollment, I heard that if a group of retunring 4th formers offers to be in a triple they’ll get their first choice of dorm. So hopefully this will be accommodated by the returning students rather than by the new students.

That’s exactly what they’re doing. They’re asking returners to triple up and triples will get the biggest room in the dorm of their choice. I think they tend to avoid putting new students in triples. :)

Pelican16 - aren’t there a few triples for new students, e.g. in Kehaya?

Yes, there are triples for new students. However, I think they like to put returners in triples because it’s really hard to match three new students that will get along in a triple
if that makes sense.

Does anyone know how many incoming fifth formers SPS usually puts on the wait list?

To all current SPS students and parents,
Do you think more people choose to do their own laundry, or have the service? And are there washing machines in every dorm?

Facts:
•There are laundry machines & dryers in every dorm. The Kitts share a set and the Upper dorms share a set, and all the others have their own. The point is, you will never have to leave your building to do laundry.
•All you have to do is load money onto your student ID (with a nifty machine found in Freeman) and then use that to pay. It’s $1.50 to run the washing machine and $1.50 do run the dryer. Doing your own is much cheaper.
•A lot of people have the laundry service

My humble student opinion:
•The service is not really necessary. Your clothing disappears for 2+ days to another state OR you take the insignificant amount of your time that it takes to do your own. I do my own, and it’s easy. Saying that you don’t know how to do laundry isn’t a good excuse. There is also a long term joke here that E&R eats socks.
•Doing your own laundry builds character.

Hope this helped :)

We agree with Pelican about the laundry. If we’re going to spend $50k per year to prepare him for the real world, he should be able to handle this basic chore. So far he seems to be doing just fine

Ok thank you all so much

And for students attending SPS next year, have any of you received your summer work information?

When will we find out who our roommates will be?

You will find out who your roommate is in early August, if my memory serves me correctly.

Yes, earlier in the summer they’ll upload the pictures of new students and you’ll be able to see what dorm you’re in, then around the very beginning of August they’ll also put up roommate and adviser information.

Returning students found out their dorms right before they left school for the year (they waited until after finals were over to distribute the information which was probably a very good plan).
