St. Paul's School Concord NH

we30...what about teams like the Jr. Bruins? There are a few other strong teams in the northeast, aren't there? I know some of the top DI hockey programs (UNH, BC, etc.) have boys who have come up through these programs.

Being a hockey player I can't believe it took me this long to figure out what we30's screen name stood for. I'm a little ashamed. I'm sure he still has competition on the east coast, although he may win most of the time.

My children don't play hockey, but they have friends who do. Also, didn't Ray Bourque's son and his friend just sign with UNH....and they both play for a New England junior team, right? I always thought New England was a hot bed for ice hockey.

i played with ray borque son at camp, he was an instructor... hes ridiculous!... and yesi play football and i mentioned it on my application. i run a 5.0 40 yard sprint, so that should help, but idk how much they recruit in football and hockeykid, there really is not much competition. jr bruins are only a spring team. they have kids from LA selects in the spring, but we still beat them in the finals with a team i played for. i was the all tournament goalie for chowder cup and county cup, but they havent seen any of those games. massachusetts claims to have the best hockey, they just have alott of teams, but we beat jr eagles and junior terriers, 8-0. there is on team, the south shore kings. they are always a good rival team, i play with south shore in the spring for chowder cup. the east coast really doesnt have much at our age.

its just a typical thought. my team is the only team on the east coast within top ten. Team Maryland might be number ten or 11.. were number 6. all the good hockey is in detriot. also many people think the best players are in canada, but we beat the best canadian team (toronto red wings) in a tournament in chicago(nike bauer tournament)

to Creative1... my coach doesnt really know im leaving much, cuz i wouldnt be able to play for him next year, they arent to glad about signing my release papers because i would be a big peice to a national title. the team that won nationals last year (detriot honeybaked) we beat in a shootout 1-0

hockeykid841 it sounds to me that if WE30 got into SPS and went out for the team, he would assume the role as starting Varsity goalie pretty fast. Impact players in that league mean alot to a school.
I believe the best news to come out of this forum re: SPS football is that the players there love the new coach. This will get out on the grapevine. A great coach goes a long way in recruiting the players in a short amount of time. Anyone else have any SPS football info?

idk, about varsity started immmediately, depends on how many goalies they have... i could never surpass a senior, but i could can compete physically with juniors and sohpmores and other freshmen. i think they will have 2 seniors and a junior next year in goal, so ill just try to start jv and get a few practices in with varsity and then probably rotate games or start my sophmore.

no i havent heard much about their football program. choate is the only school to approach me for football, but i only play town football... im actually over the town weight limit so i would play in a different league hahah... they only allow 150 on top level of pop warner. so i havent played since early 7th grade. but is a sport im physically designed for, so who knows. i would love to play football wherever i go.

ok, so just what does we30 stand for?

30 is his Jersey # and WE is the All Star team he plays for.

yup.... and i dont think i should mention what WE stands for because i dont know who checks this stuff and my hockey coach doesnt really know im going. if i go to choate i can still play becuz im close enough, but exeter is too far and i wouldnt be able to pla and as i sed, im a major peice in winning the national title, so my coaches would be disappointed. so if you really need to know what WE is you can private message me.

It's easy to find out what it stands for, though...I looked it up. So...maybe you want to change your username?

In case anyone is wondering, I DO NOT have any affiliation with ANY Mexican restaurant. (I googled my username out of curiosity.)

:)

haha your user name makes me hungry!

Yes, I love Mexican food!

keylyme. ... yeh i could, but whatever. no one else on my team is applying to boarding school so i think i will be okay, but still. its not good to spread word.

Your secret is safe with us.

haha thanks sarum

I just love this thread! Thanks all for insights and glimpses that I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Son's interview & tour left much to be desired. The school felt empty & abondoned on a Wed afternoon. There was NO ONE in the admin building to greet us. There were some schedule flips & we got our interview before the tour. Our interviewer was not easy to engage in conversation. He just went through the motions & dismissed much of what we wanted to discuss. If it were not for this thread I would have left with a bad impression and would have discouraged son from applying.

Thanks to all of you (esp Winterset!) I have changed my opinion of the school (everyone has bad days and we were only there for 2 hours).

I am VERY happy my son applied -- esp when I read posts from other applicants that come across as bright motivated folks (mpicz & we30 for example).

I am anxious & excited for 3/10 -- Like mipcz I started the process in the fall thinking the perfect school for my son would be one of the other big HADES, but I learned there is much more to the schools then what I can glim on the websites

notnim, do a search for some postings from paleozoic. remember that wednesday afternoon classes let out early for sports.

I visited SPS recently. It was on a rather warm day here in Boston, but it was 10 degree lower in Concord.

I like the campus very much, the chapel is amazing, reminded me of the famous King's College Chapel in UK. The campus was big, too big, the guide only took me to the nearby places because of her time limit and I finished the rest myself. While the guide and me hopping on the muddy/icy paths, I was wondering how you guys managed to get around in cold winter. The dinning hall is on the opposite side of dorms, do you really go that far for breakfast? Are there other eating places closer, student center?

I didn't even get to see the dining hall. I saw people eating in a place that resembled a bar kind of, loud music and a room with a few tables. Forgot what my tour guide said it was though.
