Can someone explain how this class is run? What are the weekly labs? Are there quizzes every week?

In the lab, you do stuff with some stats computer program. Lab can be easy or hard. Mine was easy because the TA showed the class step-by-step what to do and we were out. Others I know, had to figure it out for themselves.

Most of the TA’s walk you through every number and it’s usually just a matter of copying the digits onto your paper.

The online quizzes are really just a pain. They’re usually 5 questions if I remember correctly, and your best bet to get full credit is to do it with a group because you’ll have 6 attempts at the questions, as opposed to 3. Unfortunately, I didn’t start doing the quizzes with a partner until we were at the last 2 quizzes or so. Luckily, Mocko’s third test was very easy and I pulled the 92%. I’ve heard very bad things about Ripoll though.

You have three online lectures to watch a week and one hour-long lab that you must attend. Labs are a pretty big waste of time, to be honest - the TAs basically give you the answers to the worksheets - but you have to go for the points. Quizzes are once a week online - three attempts, five or six questions. The questions aren’t always the same each time you take the quiz.

Ripol was my teacher. I’m a good math student and it was horrible.

wait…i was going to take stat honors with Ripol this fall but now i’m scared…
ratemyprofessor says she isn’t that bad
can anyone else elaborate on her?

I had mocko, but friends that took Ripol in the Spring told me that she rambles and speaks way to fast. They said a lot of the time, she just blasted through material without making sure people were on the same page. Mocko is the opposite extreme of that, for better or worse
