Stabbing at Virginia Tech

You make such good points, historymom. It is so tragic. Even the little glimpses that have emerged about this say that the most that was known before this was
that he was "rude and belligerent " to a landlord.
That is not the kind of thing that would get most campuses (if any) on alert. I do wonder what those closest to him ( he had 2 roommates apparently) noticed. Very sad.

Re: mimi’s above post

Drivel, and I think its only purpose is to cause harm. But can be countered easily by goggling Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh for the same type drivel that is also meant to cause harm.

Blind extremists cause most of this worlds pain.

Thank you for your kind words, historymom. They mean so much to me.

As you pointed out, trouble often shows up in late adolescence. Hindsight may pick up clues after the fact, of course.

My heart just breaks for the students, the staff, and the administration. Despite all of the blame that was going around after the 2007 tragedy, the President of the University got such a warm ovation from the students at the graduation ceremony less than a month later. It was like they were telling him, "We know you were broken by this, too, and would have done anything to prevent it. We are all a family and we support you."

I hate that they have to go through it again, and my heart aches for both sets of parents involved in this latest tragedy, as well as the parents who most likely reliving the worst day of their lives.
