D2 is a junior who visited Denison along with the usual Ohio suspects last month. She loved the campus, the coach and kids she met, and the general vibe of Denison and the school is her current top choice.

We were looking through the financial aid materials and saw that numerous (as many as 2,000) different funded merit scholarships may be available. I am aware of Denison's generous reputation on this count, and given that Denison is not a CSS Profile school, merit is very important to us, as D2 is on the heels of D1 entering college this Fall.

D2 is about in the top 10% of her class with a 30 ACT, but no NM, which appears to get her just into Denison's top quartile of it's admitted class.

Can anyone share their merit scholarship experiences relative to similar stats and can anyone advise whether Denison stacks multiple merit awards or simply award the highest scholarship for which an applicant qualifies?

Speculating, I’d guess, absent knowing much of your circumstance, your dd would merit both scholarship and grant aid from DU. NM is great, but not essential to gleaning support. Especially if she has a good interview. I think that can help. Stats should lend some help.

My son, not an NM finalist, received a Founder’s Scholarship, basically half tuition and was also eligible for non federal work study. We knew he would not be eligible for federally supported workstudy so this was a plus. There were also some loan options offered. It was definitely his best merit based offer. His ACT scores were higher (32; 33 superscored) but his class rank was lower; not a stellar GPA.
This was in 2009. I’d agree that she’s right in there for that level of merit aid.

Denison has been the most solicitous and generous so far. Though DD won’t be going because of an ROTC offer, they provided a generous merit award. GPA 3.67/5.08 ACT 29, 6/368.

Thank you all for the posts to date. Please keep sharing any experiences- I have went back through the entire forum and would appreciate any additional thoughts and comments.

Also, to my second question- does Denison stack multiple merit awards or is it the case that if you are awarded an 18K scholarship (which is of course generous) that likely will be it?

Any sharing of numbers is always greatly appreciated?
