Can I apply for a stafford loan if I already owe one from another school? The loan is not in default and its current status is In School Deferment. My cumulative loan information as of now is $3500 Subsidized and $5334 Unsubsidized. Also, how do I know how much I'm eligible for if I am.

As long as you don’t have too many credits to qualify for undergrad status you should be okay. You are well under the total dollar amount that you are allowed for undergrad loans. Unless, of course, you are talking about a second loan for this semester after already getting one for the first school.

FAFSA determines the amounts that you are qualified for and whether or not is subsidized.

The limit of Direct loans for dependent students are:
1st year - $5500
2nd year - $6500
3rd year & beyond - $7500
Max - $31000

Let’s say you’re second year; it doesn’t matter how many schools that you’re enrolled, the most direct loans are $6500.
