We have certified your 2006-2007 Federal Stafford Loan as follows. If you
wish to cancel all or part of this loan, please notify us via e-mail at
fao@usc.edu.

For disbursement dates and amounts, review the disclosure statement when you
receive it from your lender. Before releasing funds to you, the USC Cashier's
Office will first apply the loan to any USC balance due. If loan funds are
not scheduled to arrive until after the USC payment deadline, you may contact
our office before the payment deadline to request a billing deferment.

You must meet the following requirements for the funds to be disbursed. If
your loan arrives and you do not meet all requirements, the funds may be
returned to your lender.

You must have completed Entrance Loan Counseling if this will be your first
Stafford Loan at USC. If necessary, additional information will be sent to
you regarding this requirement.

You must be enrolled at least half-time at USC.

You must have submitted all required documents to USC and your lender, which
may include submitting a master promissory note to your lender.

You must continue to be eligible for the loan amount. For example, we may
have to reduce your loan if you receive a new award or scholarship.

Hey,
Your post is kind of confusing but I will try to help because I have a Stafford Loan too. First you have to send in your request for a lender. I picked the USC Credit Union as that made it easy for me. Then you will get an email or paper back saying your loan has been certified with that lender. This is where I think you are at. Once your loan has been certified you will be instructed to go online to SallieMae.com or something like that to do Online Entrance Counseling (which you will also have to do on campus at USC). Once you read through all of the webpages you can either sign the MPN online or request one by mail. I would suggest signing it online if you need the funds ASAP. And it looks like you do. Then you should receive the funds sometime this week. If not, once you sign the MPN and USC has it you can request a financial aid deferment pending Stafford Loan Disbursement and it should be granted. I haven't gotten my Stafford loan deposited yet and I planned on using it for books and stuff. I was assured that they would all be deposited by the end of this week. Hopefully this is also the case with you. I hope this helped. Sorry it was so long.

Did anybody get verification that their PLUS loans went through? USC Financial Aid said "Most financial aid funds credit to student accounts" today. How would I know if the PLUS loan went through?

I haven't been paying much attention to my loans either...I just sent in my MPN today. Where does that put me? I can just use the loans to hep pay for second semester, right? What's the next step after mailing the MPN?

Also, uyu, you don't mind my jacking your thread? ^^

I might be wrong but depending on the year of study (fresh and soph) I think you can only use 1750 per semester maximum for a total of 3500 a year. I am pretty sure that you can't combine it to get 3500 in one semester but I might be wrong...I would call to check...worse case scenario you would get the full amount for the spring and it would disbursed later this semester for the fall...I hope this helps
