Stage Management Internships?

Hello everyone!

I am an upcoming sophomore BFA Theatre Design/Technology Major focusing on Stage Management at Kent State University. I recently have changed my major from Performance to Stage Management. I am already looking into stuff for next summer considering I’m already working this summer. I am looking for a Stage Management internship in the United States and was wondering if anyone knew of any place that I could start checking into?

Thank you!

Have you looked at Porthouse Theatre? My S has known a number of stage management/tech students who have worked at Porthouse over the summers.

Hello!

That is where I am currently working at right now, just not in Stage Management. I was looking for other options, but Porthouse is a great company!!

Are you already looking on places like Internships.com, and asking for more commentary here about which programs are actually decent to work at?

The Hangar in Ithaca has a good reputation. Williamstown, of course.

I suggest attending the job contact at SETC in March. This is an opportunity to interview with loads of companies looking for staff and interns.

Artsearch is also a good resource to seek opportunities as is offstagejobs.

Offstagejobs.com is a wonderful resource. They likely won’t have summer jobs & internships listed until winter. It’s also worth noting that there are internships, paid internships, and paid summer work, and the paid summer work can be an alternative to an internship. You will still learn a lot in summer stocK! Best of luck!
