Nice! Good luck to ya
Any more insight into the type of questions during the 30 minute interview?
Make sure you know what your goals are for the future and why you want to go to the school that you were selected for.
Is interviewing with the Foundation more of a formality (earlier in the thread indicates this) or is it still competitive (i.e., school has Foundation interview 20 finalists for 10 scholarships)?
I donāt think you are competing for scholarships. The interview was more like a informal get to know you and make sure you are real type thing. However, I only know my experience, so other people might have gotten a different vibe from the process.
Hi for those of you who received Stamps scholarships, could you please share your stats? thanks
If anyone has Stamps tips to share, we are all ears. My son was invited to apply and we are shocked because we know there are so so so many students with better stats than him. He needs to show up big in the interview.
Congratulations to your son on being selected! My D applied for one at one school, but hasnāt heard back one way or the other ā not counting on it, considering how few are awarded!
I donāt have specific Stamps tips, but I think the posts on this thread about Harvard interviews could be helpful:
Congratulations to your kiddo!
My D was selected as a semi finalist last year but did not progress. Never having done an asynchronous interview, she was completely thrown off by that format. In hindsight, I should have helped her more with preparation. She was well prepared for the interview itself, but not the asynchronous format. (She learned from it and did very well on other interviews.) I mention that so no one else makes that mistake!
As far as selection, of the kids at my Dās school who applied for Stamps, she was the only selected as a semifinalist. She did not have the highest GPA or test scores of that group. She did have excellent leadership and service experience and we believe that made her stand out.
Interestingly, she applied for Stamps at two schools and was selected as semifinalist at only one, arguably the more selective of the two. So it depends what that schoolās Stamps committee is looking for.
Finally, since Iām not sharing a success story (haha), Iāll call in @itsgettingreal21 who was so helpful and whose amazing D has a success story (and continues to knock it out of the park!) Good luck to your kids!
what school was he invited to apply?
Thank you all for these tips! Feel free to send anything else you think of. He was invited to interview at Mercer. We are hoping for a good outcome, but definitely not expecting it. If nothing else the interview experience will be valuable for later.
My daughter is also going to interview at Mercer :)!
Does Stamps send rejections to people not selected for interviews? Invitations arenāt expected to come out for another week or so at the university I applied to, but Iām just not sure what to expect.
Did you fill out a specific stamps application? do you mind sharing what university? I think each university is different.
Yes, it was a separate application. Iād rather not say the university right now, but if I hear back this week then Iāll update
my guess would be if you were invited to fill out the separate application they might let you know. if you opted to fill it out w/o invitation then they probably wonāt let you know.
good luck!!!
Thanks! I heard back today via email and unfortunately did not make it to the interview. Itās my first rejection in the college admissions process so Iām still bummed about it, but it certainly wonāt be my last and there are plenty of other amazing options to try for!
D22 a Stamps semi/finalist for University of Oregon! Notified today.
D22 just found out sheās a Stamps Finalist for University of Pittsburgh!!! Beyond thrilled!!!
Hello! I know this is a year later, but do you have any insight on what kind of questions are asked at the Stamps Foundation interview level?
