Stamps/ Singer/ Weeks Scholarships

Pannaga, the student will be considered for other scholarships as well as Stamps. No need for multiple visits.

when they releasing second wave of scholarship invitations?

Could you possibly link this?

My daughter received the email invitation, but it went directly to her trash folder on gmail. There was a reminder email and it went directly to promotions folder (sale ads folder basically). She called the university Monday to let them know she never saw it at all and they said it is too late. She is devastated. If you think you should have been invited and werenā€™t check all of your folders. She has no filters set on her email and this happened to her. She has missed the opportunity of a lifetime due to an email issue. The address that the invites come from is admission@connect.miami.edu. That address got filtered by her gmail. All the email she has received from Miami at @miami.edu have gone right to her inbox. I am wondering if the connect part of the email is something like a mailchimp and that is the problem. Iā€™d also be interested to hear if anybody else has suffered this same problem

^Happened to me too

@collegehunt2017 unfortunately the same thing happened to me and I missed the opportunity for the full ride scholarship. We called as well, but the February weekend was already full. Luckily, it was before the deadline and I could still register for the March weekend and be eligible for the full tuition scholarship. Like you said though, my email went right into my spam folder.

@Bwcoleman222 Thank you for sharing. Our invitiation didnā€™t even show up in spam. It was in trash. It has to do with the connect part of the email address I believe as all emails directly form @miami.edu get delivered to inbox. You were lucky to find out before the deadline. My d was not so lucky and she has no chance now. She was counting on that opportunity to be able to afford Miami. It was her dream school

Just thought Iā€™d let you know that I saw some info (albeit self-reported) that many students who applied for the Stamps/Singer scholarship, but didnā€™t get it, later got their Presidential scholarships bumped up to the max amount of $28,000. Someone reported that pre-Stamps/Singer, the max Pres award is $25,000. So, even if you donā€™t get the Singer or Stamps, it may be worth it to try, if it bumps up your Pres scholarship by $3000/year just for attending.

^^My middle daughter received 24K and went to one of the weekends several years ago. She did not receive a full tuition scholarship, but she was offered and additional 4K per year and a Foote Fellowship. A number of friends also received the same.

My daughter uses gmail and her invitation didnā€™t go to the trash folder. Iā€™m sorry to hear that happened @collegehunt2017

Regarding the Stamps weekend, my daughter received an email approximately three days after the initial invite stating that the Stamps weekend was already full.

So glad this didnā€™t happen to everyone. I have heard from 2 so far that said they had the same problem. Your daughter has a chance at an amazing scholarship. Best of luck to her!

Iā€™ve read several people mention there is a second wave of invitesā€¦ has anyone heard if that is truly the case? Has it already gone out? Thanks for any info!

My daughter received one yesterday evening.

Hey, Iā€™m a current UM student and Singer Scholarship Recipient and attended this event last year. I just wanted to put out some info for everyone so no false information is spread. Iā€™ll also be participating in two of the upcoming weekends as a Foote Fellow and student representative who will be evaluating some of you during your interviews.

Some basic info:
100 students are invited for each weekend, 300 overall
5 students are selected for Stamps Scholarships (full rides)
80 students are selected for Singer/Weeks Scholarships (full tuition)
Unsure as to how many are selected for Hammond (full tuition)
Around 90% of students who attend the weekend are invited to join the Foote Fellows Program
Typically if you do not receive one of the full ride or full tuition scholarship, your initial merit scholarship is bumped up a few thousand.
I believe they send invitations in two rounds, at least that was how they did it last year

Once you arrive on campus the selection process is based mostly upon your interactions with faculty/students throughout the weekend as well as your interviews. Best thing you can do it just be yourself, relax and try to be as confident as you can. The University of Miami is a fantastic school and is definitely a great all-around university. Iā€™m glad I made the decision to come here, and couldnā€™t be happier.

If you have any other questions, related to the weekend or the school in general, Iā€™d be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

@Miamiman305 My daughter was invited, but invite went to a junk folder and she never saw it before the 1-27 deadline so she is not permitted to attend. How will she get in Foote Fellows? Is there another avenue for this other than scholarship weekend?

@collegehunt2017 Iā€™m sorry to hear that your daughter was unable to attend due to something beyond her control. There is a chance that she could be invited to the Foote Fellows program later on, but I am uncertain of this. I could enquire and get back to you. If you contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions they also might be able to give you a definitive answer.

Does anyone have anymore info on the Endowed Weeks scholarship?

anyone choose the march 24th weekend?

In the past miami paid for hotel bills during weekend visit. Is it different this year? Also, if we get singers scholarship, is it possible to use presidents to cover room/board and other stuff or does the presidents scholarship go away?

@Harryp17 Did you get invited on the second round/when? or did you get invited on the first?
