i will end up at university of illinois at urbana-champaign as a potential double major of information science and studio art! sorry cuse.
Great for you. Best of luck to you as wellâŠ
So you mind sharing your sonâs academic stats? My son wants to go to stamps but I have no idea how competitive it is. Thank you!
My son had a weighted 3.8-3.9 GPA and a 1390 SAT with great letter of recommendations from his art teacher and a good portfolio, which his art teacher helped him put together. He was also a 4-year athlete along with good community service activities. I would recommend early action if your son is going to apply.
Sorry I didnât see your post earlier. I donât recall the exact numbers but weighted GPA was above 4.0 and he had a 1390 on the SAT - he took the test only once and could probably have gotten a higher score but all the other sessions were cancelled. He had at least 5 AP classes, with a mix of 4 and 5 but I donât remember which scores were available when he applied. In terms of EC he was for 4 years in the marching band, and was in the swim and water polo teams for 3 years before things went down the crapper with Covid - but he never got into varsity, just JV. No clubs or major volunteering activities besides the band.
As for his portfolio which counts for about half of the admission decision at STAMPS, he had no arts classes whatsoever but got into designing and making clothes as a hobby. So I think his portfolio was mostly fashion drawings. But he never showed us his apps so I canât tell you much more than that.
Like mrw456, he applied early action and was notified of acceptance in January.
Hope this helps!
