Hi Guys! I unfortunately did not receive direct admission to The Kelley School of Business, and will be going in as a standard admit this fall. I just wanted to ask how one would be able to get credit at a community college for both finite mathematics and calculus? I am doing this mainly to save money so I am apply to Kelley later as a much more analytical thinker who has not spent a lot of money (OOS). I am taking calculus over the summer at my local community college, but I really would like to take finite mathematics at a community college as well. I struggle an extreme deal in mathematics, but still try to work hard and put my best foot forward!
During the Spring or Fall of my time in Bloomington, can I go to IVY Tech to get credits for finite mathematics? Finite Math at a community college in the fall or spring is my top priority, and I pray I am able to do it.
Also due to my senior year high school schedule I will be getting credits for ENG 131 as well as Econ 201 (Intro to Micro). I am not too sure about submitting my credits for Econ as I studied AP Microeconomics a while back and want to be better prepared by studying it at a top ten business school. I am completing a dual course for ENG 131, so that is why I am getting credits for ENG 131. Also, I do not want to give up getting credits in math courses as apparently I need 12-13.5 credits of Kelley Classes on IUB campus, so I am not sure about getting credits for Econ and English due to the fact I may jeopardize possible math credits being exempted. So my last question is, am I still eligible for standard admission if I get credit for Econ, English, possibly Finite Math, and Calculus outside of IU? Again, I am mainly doing this to save money as I am out-of-state and want my hard earned credits put to beneficial use. The amount of work I put in to get credits for Econ and Eng was an extreme amount, and I really, really do not want it to go to waste.
The credits I earned in Econ and English were extremely hard, and calculus at my local community college is pretty difficult as well but most certainly doable. I promise I am not aspiring to take a shortcut of any manner and just want to save money and utilize the credits I have already earned. I am an honest kid, and really hope to get a seat at Kelley after my freshman year!
I value all response and cannot wait to meet my fellow Hoosiers on campus this fall! I thank you all again for taking a chunk of your time to answer my question, and hope everyone has been able to have a successful college admissions process this year!
