Hello everyone.
Does anyone here know how does Smith looks at SAT scores for admission? If I have two sets of scores will they take the best for each section? And what do they mean by saying that all testing have to be done 'by October'? Does it mean they will not consider the October 14 test scores?

I hope that someone here can help me with this. Thanks!

Hello.i just got my Oct SAT scores..i did well 770CR 770M..however my writing was only 630 with a 7 on my essay. I am usually a pretty good writer but I find it hard to write well within the short time limit of 25 minute. Is there anything I can do to 'prove' to the ad com that my writing is not as bad as my scores suggest? Is there a need for me to do so?

Are you planning on taking the SAT again? If not, I think you're CR and M scores are great. Smith does like strong writers, though, and I think the advice of doing your best on the essays is critical if you can't take the test again. Luckily, Smith takes many things into consideration when looking over info on candidates. Don't get strung out about it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. By the way, I have submitted my ED application to Smith, so there is no way I can change anything in my essay. I thought i did a pretty good job though...it was a pretty personal piece.

What BJM said. Good luck. And assuming you get in, I hope you have a marvelous time at Smith. I know some Smith Mom's who are a little jealous of their D's at Smith and wish that they could go there. At least one who never finished college herself was told, "Wait until I graduate, Mom!"

Blur, your SAT scores are great, so don't worry. Colleges don't yet know how to evaluate the essay scores because they vary widely from test to test for many applications. The ad com will look at your application as a whole anyway - one of the great benefits of applying to Smith or any other small LAC.
