Standardized test scores vs GPA?

So my GPA is extremely low: 2.9 UW, 3.6 W

However, SAT/ACT scores are pretty decent
SAT: 660 writing, 800 math, 710 reading, 2170 superscore
ACT: 35

AP tests:
US history: 3
Chem: 5
Bio: 4
Stat: 5
Calc BC: 5

Subject tests:
Chem: 780
Bio : 750
Math 2: 800

Courseload is pretty decent, Multivariable calculus and AP gov this year, mainly honors last 3 years

EC not much
work (20 hrs/week)
Ultimate Frisbee
Academic Decathlon

My question is whether high standardized test scores would be able to carry my low GPA into NYU?

No, it won’t. While a 2170 is a good score, no matter how well you did, even getting a 2400 would not make up for your GPA, especially at a good school like NYU.

I might have said “maybe” if you had very in-depth ECs, but since you stated “not much”, unless you have extremely extenuating circumstances that you can explain, I would say your chances are really low for any NYU school

No. I’m sorry but like anxioussenior1 said, no SAT would make up for that GPA. GPA is an indicator of how you’ll perform at college, and while you standardized tests scores say you’re smart, your GPA tells them that despite that, you wouldn’t succeed at somewhere like NYU. Now, i don’t know if thats true for you. you may have been lazy freshman year and picked it up later, I really can’t say. And “you won’t succeed at NYU” isn’t my opinion, but that’s what I’ve been told college admissions officers think

Is that UW GPA on your transcript? I have a 3.68 weighted and my school doesn’t do unweighted so I don’t know what it is. My ACT score is 33. I was placed in the Liberal Studies Core Program. Don’t not apply. I wouldn’t call it impossible.
