Standardized Testing scores on HS Transcript

I'm still a little confused about this. If our scores are put on our transcript, then we don't need to send official score reports? I think my school puts the SAT scores on our transcript, so this means that I don't need to worry about official score reports? What if I get my counselor to put all my SAT/ACT/AP/SATII scores on my transcript? Also, it's advised to not send AP score reports until accepted right?

I think it’s only official through the official score reports (duh). They need them for verification even if it’s on your transcript.

No, even a notarized school transcript does not make your SAT score official. Only collegeboard can do that.
And right, there’s no point in sending AP scores until you’re ready to get AP credit.

actually some schools will take your standardized tests if they are included on your transcript and for those schools you don’t have to pay to have them sent by the testing agency. A few require the testing agency to send in the scores even if you transcript shows them. You have to check for the policy on this with each school where you apply. If they allow you to submit scores on your transcript, the policy is sometimes stated on the websites. But, a quick email or call to the admissions office will give you the right answer for each school.

Griffen is right. Collegeboard might make it “official,” but a lot of schools accept scores when they are on your transcript, or even when your school faxes/mails a copy.

Amherst does that.

Each school has its own rules so you have to check. For example, GA TECH has self-reporting of grades & scores on its own online form. On students who accept their offers and decide to attend have to sent ‘official’ copies for verification. Brilliant idea. Saves students and school time and money and saves trees. Hopefully other schools will adopt this method in the future.
