standardized testing

Hi

just a couple of quick questions

  1. Does NU super score the ACT
  2. How important is it to do subject tests if applying to WCAS

re: Superscore - I have been told by an Adcom that they do. Someone else on this board was told they do NOT superscore. I suggest you make the call yourself.

re: Subject Tests - NU recommends, but does not require subject tests.

I was told twice they don’t super score: once at a on campus info session and I think it may say online somewhere, though obviously if you send two ACTs they’re look at both of them. It’s probably best to email admissions and find out yourself to double check.

I took SAT subjects tests and did horrible on them and didn’t summit them and still got in WCAS, so if you do good send them if you don’t it doesn’t matter. It’s just another was to show off how smart you are. I think it’s more important if you were homeschooled or maybe did bad in a class on your transcript that you want a second chance to show them you’ve master the material in a subject with a high score. I wouldn’t worry about them too much, they can be kind of screwy anyways because they could be on some course material that you’ve never learned from your Corriculum in school. I wouldn’t not take them, but I would receive your scores before blindly sending them to NU (I think sometimes you get one free submission on test day?) and then decide because they could hurt you possibly if you absolutely fail them: you want to be in control of what your sending to schools.
