Standardized Testing

Who else hates standardized testing? This thread is meant to rant, so let it out!

I'll start:
We have the STAR this week, which is the test they give in CA to all students from grade 2-grade 11. This year they give juniors an extra section that allows them to avoid freshmen math and/or English at a state college. Why the **** am I torturing my self with so many APs?!!! I don't get it! It's a wast of a week, APs are in 2 weeks, and I don't have time to spend 4 days sitting on my *** not doing anything! (My proctor won't allow human interaction or textbooks because we might cheat and that would compromise our results which would meant the school gets less money next year). And that's another thing...I think it's crazy that scores have to improve every year for schools to get funding, my school is already scoring really high, so we can't improve that much, so we lose money. It's sooooo DUMB!!!!!

Yeah, the whole "improvement every year" thing is pretty stupid.

But I love standardized testing. It's so much easier than actually having to write long essays that require, you know, analysis.

Wouldn't it be a good idea for schools once they acheive high scores to do terrible one year and get a little better every year on.

Also, I wondered if any schools discouraged the stupid kids from taking the STAR, LOL.

I remember my high school got nailed on the PSSA tests (Pennsylvania equivalent) because we had all of the learning disabled students from surrounding districts shuttled into ours.

I hated STAR testing last year...it seemed so pointless.

Now, though, since I don't have to be at school until noon all week (and not at all today!), it doesn't bother me so much. ^_^

ugh, the kids in PA have PSSA next week - the science portion. We just took the writing/reading and math portions a few weeks ago...it's so easy and stupid. Such a waste of time...
