Or does anyone know who's done Standby Testing? Because it's my only option for this week's SAT... The fee doesn't worry me nearly as much as my chances of getting in. Forms, ID, fee, pencils, calculator, etc. are all no problemo.

I know there are always people that don't show up and blah blah blah, but what makes me anxious is the fact that the chances of me taking a test on that date are not guaranteed. I'll practically show up at like 7:00 AM just to be first in the line...

If it would make you feel any better, contact the test site administrator now to find out any advice about improving your chances. Sounds like getting there very early is a good plan!

You should be fine, unless a ton of people decided OMG I NEED TO TAKE SAT NOW STANDBY RAWRRRRR" I think that each center has a few extra tests just in case every time.

Ah thanks guys. lol @adchang’s comment. So it’s just a game of chance… I’ve heard it’s almost guaranteed though because some people just don’t show up to the exam and I’m sure collegeboard sends the exams in massive bundles, not in precise “how many people are taking the test” numbers

Of course it was kind of foolish of me to forget to register in the first place but whatever.

I had to do this last spring/summer. My dad called several testing sites to ask which ones were most likely to have lots of spaces. Everyone pointed him to one or two schools. He then called these schools. One of the testing administrators informed him that his particular school almost never filled up and I should be fine. : )
My dad told the guy my name and stuff, and so they knew I was coming. When I got there I got to go to the front of the standby line and there wasn’t any problem.

I was super nervous too though so I get where you’re coming from.
