Stanford 2008 Transfer

Legacy helps, especially parents.

I just got accepted to UC Berkeley Haas School of Business where the acceptance rate was about 5%. I’m still holding up hopes for Stanford!

It’s perfect timing that they’re releasing decisions the day before my first final. I just hope that a rejection won’t bring down more than my self esteem.

are they emailing the decisions ON may 15th or by the latest may 15th?

They e-mailed saying that May 15th was the latest they would send out decisions. Since then someone called the office and was told that they would send out decisions on the 15th. So it’s hard to say.

Last year I believe they released decisions on the 15th, so that’s the likeliest scenario this year.

undisclosed: “holy vishnu?” are you hindu? i’m a hindu and if you are too, then ROCK ON MA HINDU BROTHA!!!

^^^

Peaple lik this, dear fellow forum-goers, are the reason that other people hold stereotypes, predilections towards racist tendencies around the globe, and general prejudice - although you, supindy, may not think of it that way, such a comment is really quite provocative for some people. Please, let’s keep all information regarding race, religion, background etc. which is not relevant to the application process out of this forum, and off the internet.

Please do not reply to this with flame, let’s keep this thread about Stanford applications. But someone was going to respond to that in one manner or another, so I figured that I might as well, and attempt to quell any flame war before it begins in the process.

Does anyone know the stats of people who were accepted as transfers last year?

statistics would be useless.

There are stats, and they’re not useless…but I think they’re only just a tiny bit useful. (; You can do a google search for “Stanford Common Data Set”.

But, yeah, I think that your numbers basically get your foot in the door. A 4.0 won’t get you in, though. Neither will your SAT score. It’s pretty subjective and depends on the experiences, motivations, and personal qualities of the applicant.

Goshamoossy,

you need to seriously relax.
what’s wrong with being happy at identifying one of your countrymen?

How much does work experiance count on transfer application.. as well as paying for the college yourself (its really tough especially if you are international student)

Can someone that is accepted post their stats/accomplishments (or PM me if they’re uncomfortable…)? I think it’d give us all an idea of what you need to get in :-).

Igor there is no magic cutoff or requirement.
They will accept someone with a 4.0, they will reject someone with a 4.0.
Having a real reason to be at Stanford, whether academic specialty, geographical need, because you’re great at a sport, or have alumni connections are the best things to have.

last year the accepted students found out their decisions on the 9th via sunet..i wonder if there is a similar loophole for us

via sunet? how does that work? explain yourself, please!

I looked it up- put your 8-digit ID # into the SUNet website and if it pops back with anything other than a “can’t find you in the system” answer you’re accepted. Someone on CC found out he got in:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/4114141-post162.html

the thing is, none of us this year got an official U(niverstiy) ID

unless i skipped the post

um. i have an inactive account. does that mean i got in?

… That’s the point. So you go to the site and click on the place where it says … enter other/more information or w/e to get your ID.

I don’t trust anything that asks for my social, and I’m certainly not going to try to find out that way. So I’ll just wait until the decisions are mailed.
