Stanford 2014 SCEAers

damn
i know someone here asked their former governor (someone from oklahoma i think?)

i think recs and interview should go under the subjective category instead of writing

just out of curiosity, who else here had an interview? i def think stanford should continue with it.

[ul]
[li] What would you have done differently?: I would have tried to get a recommendation from… uhh… Larry Craig?[/li][/ul]

haha i love Idaho, we only have neo nazi’s; potatoes; and gay, anti-gay rights senators…

looks great Prussia!.. !!!

The former Oklahoma Gov. wrote me one, my sister and his granddaughter were best friends and he knows me really well.

i think that was why the optional recommendation was only 1 page. they wanted to discourage unnecessary padding of an app.

it was pretty cool though, his letter head had the state seal and said Governor of Oklahoma.

I can’t imagine someone with a rec from Obama getting denied. I met Obama when he through OK campaigning, he’s tall!

Hmm, I’m not sure about that one. I mean, they are writing, even if not yours. I also feel they belong in the “rating” section, though those who didn’t read them (like me) would just rate their relationship with that person.
Also, I feel the subjective things are items with a sort of “unquantitative” quality, unable to be judged on any real scale. While 3rd-party contributions are kind of subjective, the quality of their writing and content seems to me like it can be quantified just like your own writing.

He liked that my brother’s name is Barak, but he always went by his middle name Bear because before Obama no body could pronounce his name.

Agreed Prussia!..

well imagine though if you were a reader and you think “eh, I don’t really think this student is Stanford material” then you open up his rec letter and it has the Seal Of The United States Of America on it and the President of The United States says that he feels this student would be an asset to the University. I just don’t know what I would do if I was the admissions officer.
I mean a recommendation from the President is enough to make most countries change their foreign policy. When the most powerful man in the world gives you a recommendation you are not just going to dismiss it.

prussia: ur right

i feel like it would be such a huge deal if a college denied someone with a letter from the president

it would send a strong statement that they are just that selective and independent that they can ignore the president

Of course I’m right!
I’m Prussia! The most invasive country in history!

^that was my 150th post on this thread

I have 318.
Because I’m Prussia! The most invasive country in hi-
Okay, okay, I’ll stop.
Hahaha…

that would suck to be that kid…

dude you got a letter from the president and still got rejected!!?!?!?!?!?11!!1!?!?1!?1??

ya you would literally have to be the worst candidate ever.

and 483, what what???

“My app so bad, not even a letta from the President could save me.”

Whatever Nitro!
…This is your fault!
