If I had to give you a % a would say 20-25%
Your stats are good, but not great (especially GPA, but I see that you have extenuating circumstances so that will probably be fine, what is your rank?-ish)
Your ecs are good (especially your Viola, I would definitely write one of your essays about this), if you can really play up your viola I would say that you have great ecs (the rest are kind of average for a stanford applicant, which is definitely not a bad thing =D, though they won’t help you)

Your SAT IIs are very nice and your extras could be amazing, the adcoms would just need more info (is the children’s book sold? nationwide? how many copies? etc., same thing w/the internship, how much time? what did you do?)

Stanford is a crapshoot, but good luck, you definitely have a chance!

My thread is above yours if you’d like to chance me ;)

This is exactly what colleges are looking for–that determination you show with your viola EC.
And the rest of them too…wow!
You have incredible extracurriculars! Nice job.
A couple of C+s shouldn’t ruin that but yeah, Stanford’s a crapshoot.

Hey, i was wondering if you guys could chance me as well.
I’ll probably be applying regular decision as i’m not content with my SAT scores so far and i’ve yet to take the ACT. I’ll be visiting stanford this summer so hopefully i’ll get a clearer picture if this is really my dream school and hey, maybe it’ll help me write the essays which from other threads seem to be a major component in decisions. i realize my gpa isn’t the greatest but i’m hoping to get a 4.0 next semester. and ranking wise it’s really hard to rank because my grade is pretty superior like the kids in my grade are probably going to get into any school they want with their grades and e.c’s because our international school gives you the opportunity to be well rounded.

Others

 • i am going on a field trip next school year to visit a group of indigenous people in the country and i am writing a dissertation on them. Even though writing a dissertation is part of the curriculum requirement, we get to choose what we focus on and in college i’m looking towards the social sciences so do you think this would help? do you apply to stanford itself or the specific departments?
 • i am young for my grade, skipped a year in elementary school.
 • there have been so family problems over the past two years -health wise, including a death in my immediate family - yet i’ve managed to maintain my grades
 • my gpa went down significantly this semester because i became easily distracted and i was double scheduling myself sacrificing grades/work quality for sleep (yet i still felt exhausted) and e.c’s but i managed to pull myself together to bring it up to a decent, but not my usual GPA from a pretty low point, i sacrificed a lot of stuff for that so maybe i can talk about my determination/ability to somewhat overcome obstacles somewhere.

if you want to major in music, why stanford?
