Stanford 2016 Official Transfer Thread

Hey guys! Just wanted to start a thread for applicant! Let’s start a discussion and comment below if you are applying

I am applying this year, and gamble a bit. Are we supposed to write our status and stuff?

Hi everyone! I know the chance of getting in is slim to none, but hey, best of luck to you all

On another note, I’m sending in my high school transcripts through parchment, but Stanford indicated that it wants all mailed materials to be affixed with a “mailing label”. Since parchment is mailing them directly, I don’t see how this is possible. Probably not a huge deal, but I just wanted to know what course of action you guys were taking.

Hey everyone. Best of luck to you all. Still on the fence about whether I am going to apply. But most likely will probably end up going through it.

I’m applying! Best of luck to everybody on this thread! Given that the rate is 1%, it’s going to be rough…

I’m applying as well, best of luck to all! I don’t mind posting my stats, if you guys want to share too that’d be sweet:

Current School: UCLA
Entering as: Sophomore
High School GPA: 4.0
College GPA: 3.2
SAT/ACT Scores: 33 ACT composite
SAT II Scores: N/A
TOEFL-IBT: 114/120
Significant ECs: Alpha Kappa Psi (oldest/largest business fraternity), Bruin Asset Management (highly competitive finance club), Bruin Investment Banking (brand new finance club), Bruin Actuarial Society, swim club
Hooks:
US/Intl: Intl (France)

Hi everyone I’m also thinking about applying. I was wondering what are some of your reasons for wanting to transfer to Stanford especially if you’re already coming from a prestigious university?

@PC2212 I was thinking of saying that my classes for my major aren’t challenging enough, and that I really identify more with the Stanford entrepreneur culture. How about you, where do you come from?

I’m trying to transfer from the Naval Academy. My reason for wanting to transfer is that I thought I wanted a military lifestyle more than intellectual development, but being in college where school is easy and they don’t offer the concentration that I want to study isn’t improving me intellectually at all.

I have a 4.0 here. Had a 4.16, 3.8 UW in HS. 35 ACT. I did a lot of applied CS since high school.

My money says @kbe0282 is in.

@Jacob4815162342 my money says @kbe0282 is not. Not that I don’t think kbe doesn’t have a chance but statistically with about 1% acecptance rate I have a better chance of winning :). (Btw, kbe good luck I think you are a more than qualified applicant!)

But all jokes aside, good luck to everyone applying to transfer to Stanford it would be amazing if anyone on cc got in!

It’s interesting to see how much the Stanford and Harvard transfer threads have declined in activity over the past few years.

Hello everyone!
I’m applying to Stanford as a rising sophomore!
Here’s my stats…

School: UC Davis (I’m from the Bay Area…)

I’m currently a freshman so if I were to be admitted I’d enter as a second year/sophomore

College GPA: 3.9-4.0 (Part of Dean’s List)

College Major: English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing

HS GPA: I think overall it was like 3.7-3.8, but I was in the top 7%

SAT/ACT Scores: 25 ACT, no SAT…

APs: 3 for AP Calc AB, 3 for Psychology, 3 for English Lit, and 4 for Gov

Significant ECs: Umm I volunteer on a weekly basis, I’m also part of Photo Club and Ballroom Dance Team

Hooks: Latina/Arab, underprivileged family, went through hardships because my father had cancer…
Umm I love writing, and have been published twice in the past year (two poems published in a teen literary magazine, and I also published my flash fiction in an international literary magazine in Canada, and that magazine had an international competition and I won third prize in the flash fiction category). I also participated a national competition (based in the Bay Area) and won first prize in the “nonfiction” category. I was very recently offered to do an internship in Europe for a publishing company, but I’m not sure if I’m going yet because of the money LOL…
Umm, I’m not going to send Stanford any writing supplements because I don’t think they accept any, but I’ll surely send some photography (I do still-life in my spare time)

Yeah…I know my chances of getting in are zero to nothing but what do you guys think?

@PrincessMorales I think you have good chances, your college GPA is high and you seem very passionate about writing. Hopefully Stanford will see intellectual vitality in your published work, which should compensate for your test scores. Best of luck!

Have any of you applied to Stanford as freshman applicants?

I have, yes! I didn’t get in though…
Um, if we applied as freshman, I don’t think we need to resubmit our standardized test scores.

Anyone have any data or articles on people who got in, in past years?

Based on last year all admitted as transfers were veterans and older returnees to school.

From what I saw on past threads anyway

So…are you saying we have virtually no chance?
