Do you think it helps your application if you are applying to a Stanford-specific program that you are unable to study at your current institution?
Depends on the program. Please do elaborate @98761234.
Product Design, it’s a major that brings together mechanical engineering, design, and psychology and exists virtually only at Stanford. I am very passionate about the subject and my application reflects that.
@BladeX I got my email about a week after I submitted my application. If you still didn’t get an email by now I would definitely be worried and emailing or calling a counselor
@summerdreams on the website its said it may take up to three weeks to get the email. Tmr is the third week. I will call them on tues if i still cant get it. But thank you for ur info
Hi Everyone, I just found this thread and thought I’d join in! I’ve sent in all my application materials but they have yet to process college transcripts and college report. I found College Confidential extremely helpful when I first applied to Columbia my freshman year.
I was very positive about transferring to Stanford, but the recent acceptance rate for the incoming freshman class has me worried about how many spots will actually be available to transfer students.
Hi everybody! This is my first post on CC, but I’ve been prowling threads for almost 3 years now! Lol!
Anyway, I’ve decide to go ahead and attempt the impossible!
I’m a US Permanent Resident, but I’m currently studying at a college outside the US. I would have applied last year as a freshman, but my family’s monetary situation last year wasn’t so hot, and I didn’t apply. I’m particularly worried that this year’s acceptance rate will be even worse than last year, simply because of Stanford’s higher yield rate last year(82%!!). BTW, does anyone know when decisions will come out??? I can hardly wait. Also, I’ve already been admitted to the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and they want me to pay the enrollment deposit by May 1st, so iI don’t know what to do. Should i go ahead and accept my spot even if Stanford doesn’t release their decisions by May 1st?? Or will Stanford release decisions before that date??? Thanks!
@CollegeCrazy97 they release them in May. Usually a little before the 15th but I think you will have to pay the deposit.
Can someone chance me?

@aggietransfer You look really solid, I think you have a good shot.
@aggietransfer :
I think you have an extremely likely chance of getting in. You have a very interesting story to tell and I think your passion for engineering is very present.
I go to UCD too. XD
May I ask you to chance me please? Thanks.
Also, does anyone know if Stanford gives out likely letters for transfers?
@PrincessMorales I know they do so for incoming freshman,but I haven’t heard of it for transfers
We are about a month away from decisions being announced! How nerve-wracking and exciting!

With all due respect, saying someone has a good chance, is not just pollyanish, but also just plain inaccurate. Recent readings of accepted transfer students not only reveal an incredibly small number of accepted transfer students, 2-3%, but almost all were either veterans, returning home from active duty, or transfer athletes. In short, there are no back doors to Stanford.
I would imagine you need the same stats as a freshman to transfer, which are generally SATs of 2200+ and mostly A’s. If you are an Olympic athlete or a soon to be professional athlete, disregard.
Hi! Is anyone here applying to Stanford from community college?
@freshlemon123
I am! And in the past students from my community college have been accepted, so it at least was possible.
@freshlemon123 I am!
