Stanford 2021 Deferred Applicants Thread

LOL you can’t really judge how many people were deferred just by looking at CC ><
Maybe many people last year just didn’t have a CC account!
That being said, I hope the numbers are the same too! Not to sound greedy, but I don’t want more competition :’)

Does Stanford dish out courtesy deferrals?
I would guess that they don’t because I’ve witnessed their rejection of legacy applicants and, of course, they believe in making final decisions whenever possible.

@alr33zy I would guess that their low deferral rate generally means that there are very few courtesy deferrals, but certainly there could be in some cases; I would not take your deferral as being discounted because of this possibility, however.

Since they said we have until the end of February to submit the optional update form, does that imply that they won’t start looking at deferred applications again until then?

Whoops wrong thread

I wondered the same thing.

Applied: 11/9
Decision: 11/29
Major: Computer Engineering
Did you get in: yes
Class Rank:330/649
ACT: 26
New SAT: 1220

Was really surprised that I got in, but I will take it. GO CARDINALS!

@Jb12dbdjdkd --how did you apply 11/9 for Stanford Restrictive Early Action when the deadline is 11/1??

@carachel2 He’s trolling. Let’s not entertain him @Jb12dbdjdkd

I recently took SAT Physics and got 800 (it was for my UC Berkeley Eng. app), but I didn’t get to send it in time for Stanford REA. Should I send the 800 to them?

@CheckMate123 yes, they should get it in time, and it’s a good score that might be a tiny bit of help :slight_smile:

Where else did you all apply??

Just wanted to start this thread as a way for all of who are deferred to help each other out and answer any questions we may have! Congrats to everyone who got accepted.

I applied to Berkeley, MIT, Harvey Mudd, UCLA, Princeton, Cornell, Columbia, UMichigan (Ann Arbor), Penn, and some Canadian schools

Do most people have awards for the optional update form? I don’t really anticipate any major awards before then…

Yeah, @CheckMate123, that question was a bit disheartening.

@CheckMate123 Just a presidential bronze volunteer award but i dont think its a big deal cause i have 3 of those already;;

Hi guys, so my counselor is telling me that I should write a letter of continued interest and send it to Stanford, but I’m a little bit skeptical about that. Is anyone else doing the same thing? What’s the general consensus on this?

@CheckMate123 I think it would be a good idea to send a letter if Stanford is still your top choice
