Hello everybody! And congrats on not being entirely rejected! This is a thread where we get to bemoan the next 5 months together and talk about future plans and goals! POSITIVITY is a requirement and never give up hope!
whats the deferral acceptance rate
Good luck to everyone who was deferred. Which means that Stanford saw potential in you and is interested in you, don’t give up hope!
@jeffrandell it’s around 15% for the past few years so honestly, it’s a lot better than the 4% acceptance rate for regular decision. I mean it’s not great or any sort of guarantee but you still have a much higher chance than any of the regular applicants.
@jeffrandell I believe that it is the same as Regular Decision. I don’t think it matters if we were deferred early or applied regular
I’ve seen some articles that support what @mmish321 says so I think it’s around 15%
Do you all know if we only get one chance to submit the update form or can we submit/edit multiple times? Is anyone planning to use it?
@mmish321 Is that just overall statistics as people who get deferred and not rejected are usually strong applicants or do we actually get an advantage over Regular Decision applicants?
@WildChicken generally because Stanford hates to defer applicants, it means that they truly will re-evaluate our applications thoroughly and generally because REA applicants are more qualified(generally not always), it ends up that the deferred applicants have a better chance just based off of stats.
@shapeofyou
I think I will definitely use it, what I’m slightly confused about is like updates on grades because my first semester grades get finalized at the end of this month so I’m not sure if I need to include my grades or not because my current transcript does not have my first semester grades anyways.
@mmish321 I don’t think you need to since your school counselor is obligated to send a mid-year report anyways, but I’ll let you know if I find anything different.
@shapeofyou Thanks! Good to know, I think you only submit it once since they literally give us a deadline. I mean I’ll probably wait until around February to submit it!
Got deferred. I’m still really happy though, it’s given me that push to finish all my other applications. What else could I do besides filling out the update form to show Stanford they are still my top choice?
Congrat that you got deferred!! U have a big chance to get in Stanford!
Official acceptance for deferred people from Stanford is 15% but unofficially it is 25%. Last year my son got deferred at early round and got an admission at regular decision.
He submitted the update form at the end of February.
well everyone who is deferred had a great application, so a 15 percent isnt too high. The deferred applicant pool is wa more competitive than general admissions.
@callmesoon Do you recall what your son did, specifically, that was different from his original application.
I really don’t know how I should feel about getting deferred
Wrecked, Deferred, but coming from the strictest deferrer of all colleges, not too bad I guess
@Zalo11 hey its not rejection right?
Does anyone want to post their stats here?
