Hey has any international applicant(applying for aid) received a letter like “The Stanford Undergraduate Admissions Office has identified you as an international applicant who has requested financial aid consideration.”??? with a fee waiver code…(I applied RD by the way)
I’m currently filling out the optional update form for deferred Stanford applicants. I just realized that it doesn’t let me paste more than 77 words for each answer. Does anybody else have this issue as well, or is this actually the way it is supposed to be?
@Pawrrrrrr yeah, it only allows up to 500 characters, which is nothing
Has anyone checked with Admissions to see if the 500 character limit isn’t an error and that possibly it’s supposed to be 500 words? 500 characters sems crazy given the prompt.
yeah it’s crazy but it’s 500 characters for everyone so i doubt it’s an error? if it is an error don’t even tell me because i already submitted my form with my very short answers
@astnvila forgot to tag u ^
I submitted the form! Ahh I’m so scared! All I have to do is wait now… Good luck, guys!
I feel like I’m a little late to the party–but here it goes. I’m also a deferred applicant. Hoping for the best! Anyone have any coping tips? Everyone says to “stay busy” but sheesh it’s going on four months of waiting. All the best to everyone–and do share if you have any suggestions as to how one might retain their sanity till April. Might rewatch the Office… again…
@dernhelm good luck to u too:) i’m scared as h*ck but i keep telling myself, “hey, at least u didnt get flat-out rejected!”
@lfrost i really don’t know either… a little off-topic but–are u guys trying hard at school this semester or relaxing more? i thought second semester of senior year would be chill but i find myself still being stressed about grades lol
How are you guys answering this question, “Describe any other new information (or unusual circumstances) you would like to share with the admission committee.”
@Zalo11 i think you aren’t supposed to rlly put anything there unless u have something truly important. i’ve heard admissions officers (especially from stanford–idk why) tend to prefer not to have any additional info. in mine i wrote abt becoming a magazine writer.
@Zalo11 yeah you should probably only write it if you actually have important information that isn’t relevant to the other two questions, like a large new accomplishment or a hardship you have recently gone through. I wrote mine about starting my Girl Scout gold award. I would say don’t write it if there isn’t anything relevant to say because it might do more harm than good
Yes I heard it’s better not to answer the 3rd question if there isn’t anything relevant.
I filled the 1st quetion with 1 award I’ve earned and answered the 2nd question.
I heard the update form doesn’t really affect the admission
Best of lucks to everyone!
@tarekb22 did u find that there was a character limit and it wasn’t infinite like u had said? hahaha best of luck to u too!!
Also, do you think new test score would affect your decision?
I was told by Stanford admissions office that the optional form may or may not be reviewed since they may have already reviewed my application. Not sure why the deadline was Feb 23 and for that I was told there is no deadline.
Last week they told that there was no deadline for optional update form. This week they are saying, “you can submit, but there is no guarantee that it would be reviewed”. I am guessing either decision was already made or the “the optional forms” has no importance at all.

@andyarrgz Yes I did! And I was really surprised!!
