Stanford 2023 Deferred Applicants Discussion Thread

Surprised that this thread hasn’t been made already. Congrats to you all for not being straight up rejected. While we wait for another two and a half months, let’s use this thread for general deferral discussion, plans, questions, and positivity.

Here is some information I found about stanford deferrals. Add more info if any of y’all find stuff. Based off this and the fact that more people are applying REA, i think that the deferral acceptance rate is less than 15% for us.

2008-2011: 15% acceptance rate
2010: 500 deferred
2013: 593 deferred and 145 admitted: 24% acceptance rate
2014: 562 deferred
2015: 701 deferred

Are you guys writing a letter of continued interest or just filling out the update form? I’m not really sure what to do.

I’m gonna only fill the update form

Do you know if you can view your deferral update form (with the answers you submitted) after you submit? Currently, it only shows me the blank update form without my answers.

@koalasium When I pressed the edit button after I submitted, it’s also showing me a blank form. Made me kinda nervous, but I guess it is supposed to be like that.

Just to make sure, did everyone else who submitted get the same?

@treebound8 Sounds good. I’ve heard from a couple other deferred applicants who also see the blank form after submission, so I’m pretty sure that it is normal.

Someone on reddit who got deferred from early got a likely letter 4 days ago. Surprised that Stanford did this!

It’s official; Stanford is releasing decisions this Friday at 4 pm pst! It says on their admissions site

Good luck to all the deferred bois!

let’s get it boisss

This is so scary… this is my final decision. In a little over an hour, the next four years of my life will be determined, no matter the outcome. ahhhHHH

How did it go?
