did you get an interview?
I got into SUMaC this year, but didn’t participate as I didn’t want to do it online and I just didn’t like the timings at all.
Yeah, though it was kinda last minute. The last date for an interview in India was 18th, and I gave it then. It went very well, and according to my counsellor my interview was twice the time of a regular interview this year so I am hoping that helps me a bit.
No i applied to symbolic systems, more of an AI guy
Yeah, makes sense. Your profile is amazing, hope you get in
Thank you so much, man. Hoping for the best for you too. let’s make India proud
Oh it was actually pretty cool even online. I remember we literally cried during closing ceremony
Oh and I had awful time zone for it too. Had classes from 3am to 7-8am almost every day
Thanks man. Yeah, it will be amazing if 3-4 Indians get in early and we’re 2 of them.
do you know how many Indian they accept in early. also, did you attend spcs?
Good luck today everyone! You’re all going to do great in the future, regardless of today’s decision… I guarantee that.
Some info about me
Location: Moscow, Russia
Interview: Done (with Kamil)
Test: no
Fin aid: applied
Major: 1. Poduct design 2. Management Science and Engineering 3. CS
Related to Stanford, I Participated in Code In Place (cs106a) for fun in April
I don’t have a good idea, but they tend to defer a lot of Indians early and then accept them. I sometimes see Shaurya and Karan’s profile and applications from last year and calm down and realise that I too have a decent chance.
Does anyone know how much do really good(like glowing type of) LORs impact admissions?
Depends on your profile…usually you need a stellar recommendation to stand out from the pool (hopefully you waived your right to see the letters for confidentiality)…however an “eh” recommendation isn’t going to do much for you. So yes, really good LORs are great.
i got mine from a stanford prof
I waived my rights but is there a disadvantage of not waiving?
Oh it’s nice to see someone from Moscow! Hope we get in
Thats seriously very good to hear. My primary rec was from my CS, and I can guarantee it is going to be off the charts. I waived my right to view the letter, but does not waiving effect the impact of your LOR.
Yeah, got mine from there too
