Stanford 2025 REA

Just to clarify, I can also apply EA at Purdue since its public, right?

yeah<3 we rly living the same life

hahahaha your username lol

Do you guys think I should even apply REA here or should I go with EA UChicago? I definitely like Stanford better, but realistically, I think with my stats it is kind of a waste of time.

Background: Farm kid at a rural school, Nebraska.

Here’s a quick run-down:
35 ACT (35E, 35R, 34M, 34S)
4.0 UW, school doesn’t do weighted
1/54 people
School doesn’t really offer APs but I convinced the admin to let me take 4 in total, so far with 5s in Macro and Statistics

Probably going to get a National Rural Recognition thingy from PSAT score

ECs:
The big ones:
XC: team state champs and runner-ups
Track: state medalist
Speech: nationals qualifier (but then corona happened)
IP business owner with a provisional patent
4H: National Leadership Award

The lesser ones:
Restaurant worker in the summer (and obv farming but ours is so small it barely takes up that much time)
Math/English tutor
Volunteer guitar teacher
Drama
StuCo

Also I speak 4-5 languages (can one speak Latin?)

Going to center the application around new lenses for understanding, we’re going to have some solid rec letters since no one in my school (I don’t think) has gone to a T20 for 20 years at least, maybe ever.

Stanford may not care about academic integrity as much as we thought it would be. One member in the class of 2024 had her magnetic research paper retracted by Optical Society of America Josa B last October for Violation of their ethical guidelines.

Reply to Alamere: applying EA to both Stanford and Purdue is probably fine , since the rule is no other REA schools and Purdue is not one.

What a surprise. This is totally insane: I actually did a search on this thing (see Standream above) and found out the 1st author, had indeed had a paper retracted last Oct due to ethical violation, academic misconduct etc. If she is a Stanford 2024 admit, doesn’t Stanford University look into this at all? Other kid(s) should get in.

@Standream I actually kicked Purdue off my list but thanks!!! I’m doing the UCs, Stanford, some CSUs, Mines, and some other privates…

I wish everyone luck tho!

@Alamere That seems fun, best of luck on the applications!

@Standream thank you! Good luck to you to if this is your year.

If you like both, try UChicago. I think you will have better chances and it fits your overall profile.

@TheJohnboi Choose whichever school you see yourself in. For example, and coming from someone accepted to Stanford, it’s mainly a sunny, innovation-themed, Silicon Valley-centric university. To be sure, there are many different majors, interests, and personalities, but the above description fits Stanford’s culture and vibe, and if you’re applying EA, should fit you. If not, then UChicago might be the better option!

To everyone working on their EA applications, whether Stanford or elsewhere: make sure the university’s personality fits yours! If it doesn’t, and you don’t see yourself as the “stereotypical ___ University student,” it may not be for you, and AOs will see that. Your chance to show your personality and interests lies in strong essays.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

If they aren’t good or my extracurriculars are weak then can you suggest some extracurriculars that I should consider for the future

@lij1207 Your academic statistics are strong and will serve as a good baseline. However, make sure you position yourself as incredibly unique in your interests. Many people do bio research, hospital internships, and math competitions – you need to paint a distinctive narrative about what you did during high school and how that makes you stand out above the rest.

To Everyone Applying to Ivy Leagues/Stanford/MIT:

Remember that statistics only serve as a baseline! Coming from someone accepted to Stanford and Harvard, the most important qualities – leadership, uniqueness, and passion, among others – are what will truly make or break your application! Feel free to DM or reply with any other questions.

Good luck,
Ethan (AimIvy)

I applied… I think my essays were really good but my ECs are kinda meh. my stats are good too but those are like what gets me able to be considered right?

I applied haha! terrified! but i think this year’s applicant pool will be pretty different from prev years

how so?

Do you guys think they will release results on Dec 4th or Dec 11th? Last year was released Dec 6th.

DID ANYONE ELSE GET AN EMAIL FOR AN ALUMNI INTERVIEW.
