stanford admissions

hi all, i have some questions about getting into stanford! You see its both me and my friends dream to get into stanford university. Will we consider other universities and colleges? Of course! (i mean at least i will) Its not like that is the only school we would apply to or want to go to but its like if you had a top choice that is ours. So we are both sophomores in @ Undisclosed High School. We would love some tips on how to get into stanford university! We understand how competitive it is (Really competitive actually).
Just some tips on what to do to be competitive/in the running/or really competitive. We would love it if it was from people who got in to stanford and decided to go there, just got accepted, or got into a better school than stanford (although arguable dont post something that most would NOT agree with).

I really appreciate all who reply and answer questions!

thanks, Forestmonkey (and my friend who dosent have a C.C account [noob, lol jk])
note we said we were sophomores but to make clear for all we would be applying in FALL/WINTER of 2013, and entering college/university in fall of 2014 (MOST LIKELY NOT deffering admission for a year)

not being impatient but lemme bump this

I am a senior and trying to get there right now. Because I have not received my acceptance/rejection letter, I can’t tell you much. Also, I’m not an adcom so telling you how to get in would be kinda hard
Things that can help though, make sure your junior year GPA is excellent, take rigorous classes, do not procrastinate on standardized exams, and get involved in ECs you actually like.
Like I said, we are not adcoms so we can’t really tell you how to get in.

THank you so much for your reply. Our school in midwest offers alot of AP courses. I am taking 2 as a sophomore? is that good? I will try my best to get really good grades in them. i participate in a few ec’s and volunteer. gaining leadership in one. I appreciate your response so much. I really hope you get in and i wish you all the best in all of your college endeavours
THanks!!

follow your passion (and ofc keep your grades and standardized testing scores up). as much as i hate that word, it’s probably the best advice anyone could give you. and, it’s obviously harder than it sounds. do things for your own sake and your acceptance letters will be something extra that accompanies your passion.

Thanks!
Yes make sure you take as many AP courses you can. Especially your junior year. Also, apply for competitions that show your passion. I have none on my application and if I could redo things, I would have entered in competitions. They help show your passion even more. Also, I took SATs sophomore/junior year “just to try” and I regret it because Stanford wants to see ALL your scores. Don’t take standardized tests just for the heck of it-like me lol. Wait until you are comfortable with your practice tests. Good luck to you and your friend! Also, make use of your summer. You would have to answer questions like “how did you spend your last 2 summers” on several supplements.

o_0. uh oh. lol well to be honest i dont regret the summer going into this year. I mean it wasnt the most productive or the summer that had a lot of work and stuff for me to do every week. I just tried to prepare myself for my curriculum. Did some volunteering, and worked on improving my 3rd language (parents native language). Oh yea so does that mean that stanford dosent subscribe to whats it called… “score choice”. Oh btw i took a SAT II (subject test) last year end of freshman and i got like a 650. How much might that mess me up

Oh and thanks to all who replied. I really appreciate it!! You guyz give awesome advice and i wish you both luck in whatever you wish to do. If anyone else wants to post here feel free to!!!

It won’t mess you up because they don’t require subject tests. You can choose what subject tests to send to them.
