Stanford Admit Rate

What every student (and parent) needs to hear when a college says "no thanks"

Only 7%. T_T

Have faith.

I second the message above me.

The QuestBridge Match rate was approximately 1.7%.

I got in.

There’s hope.

applicannot, really? how do you know tha

7?! Oh geez. That’s lower than Harvard’s rate from last year - 7.9%. Man, April 1st is going to be insane.

They’re acceptance rate doesn’t really mean anything. Half the people (or at least a good portion who apply) really should be applying. Many people apply just for the hell of it. There’s likely to be a large pool of people who you will definitely not be competing with anyways.

^ Well, I wouldn’t say that’s the case when it comes to HYPSM, where just about 90% of applicants are academically qualified. At this point, I think it does come down to just having faith, like Themust said.

7% for RD-only or all together?

I thought the percentage acceptance for RD-only would be lower.

Yeah, the RD Acceptance rate should be around 6% because they accepted more than usual for EA

I heard from another site that there were about 1600 students who ranked Stanford. 26 were Matched. However, that doesn’t include the students who were accepted at Stanford but also to a school they had ranked higher than Stanford. I don’t know though, I don’t know how many QB finalists there are, and 1600 seems high to me. At any rate it’s not higher than 10%.

I did the calculations (several times over) before, and I remember getting something like a 6% acceptance for RD applicants and a 7.5% overall, assuming they admit the same number as they did last year.

Edit: I was bored so I did the math again.

Total Applicants: 32,000
-EA: 5,566
-RD: 26,434

Total accepted: 2300 (last year)
-EA: 753
-RD: 1547* (est)

EA Acceptance Rate
753/5566 = 13.53%

RD Acceptance Rate
1547/26,434 = 5.85%

Total Acceptance Rate
2400/32000 = 7.19%

I got my most of my numbers from Stanford (<a href=“You’ve requested a page that no longer exists | Stanford News”>You’ve requested a page that no longer exists | Stanford News) but I found how many were offered admission on a SF Gate article (http://articles.sfgate.com/2010-01-25/bay-area/17835575_1_freshman-class-applicants-financial-aid</a>)

I wonder how many out of state applicants apply vs. being accepted, attend?

doesnt matter. its prviate. does not discriminate against out of state

I agree with the notion that lots of people apply just for the hell of it. If you’ve got the scores and the grade, and you expressed genuine passion for their programs and shown that you have taken full advantage of what your school had to offer, then I think you will have an amazing chance of getting into Stanford.

Something like that.

Agreed.
