STANFORD admits 2,412 of 20,194 applicants for 2009

About a 12% admit rate.

http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2005/april6/admits-040605.html

about 10% just for RD.

That sucks... the admit rate is worse than MIT's ridiculously low one this year. Wow.

Well, I'm ****ed.

told ya Byerly...that Stanford received more than 20,000 apps this year...why would an admin officer lie??

cardinal, ur an admissions officer?

cardinal .. if u're an admit officer i pray you can do some harry potter and let me get into stanford so i can stay in cali

hahahaha...I WISH!..no im an early admit..but the director of admission (anne marie porras) told us at the early admit reception that stanford broke 20,000 apps this year..she didnt give us the exact number but told us that much

Stanford University you're my only hope. Help me Stanford, you're my only hope

well, good news and bad news if you get rejected.
bad News-you cant go to Stanford
Good news- My teacher says they write extremely nice rejection letters. heh.
you can always apply again?

yup reapply for grad school :)

stanford is my favorite west coast school so im anxious to find out

man.. i had a good day today. tomorrow's going to crush it. oh boy.

... and I speculated - correctly, I believe - that they avoided reporting how many apps they received at the same time all other schools did so that they could squeeze in some more in the January-February-March period to push themselves over the magic line.

I do wonder if the 20,194 number includes apps that were incomplete or withdrawn (a la Yale) or if it is a true number for COMPLETED apps. We may never know until next year's CDS form is filed!

And interestingly, the RD app number has been essentially flat for around 9 years - ever since the early admissions program (ED, and later EA) was adopted.

oh byerly now your target is stanford?

what do u mean exactly by 'so they could squeeze in some more in jan-march?' the deadline was dec 15 and even if they extended it for some ppl (which i doubt they did)..it couldnt have been too many ppl.

cardinal 09, actually they did extend deadlien to jan for those victims of hurricane disaster in Miami.

yeah... but still, I dont like the dec 15th deadline... its earlier than all the other schools I applied to

i agere sempitern555. it was stressful too cuz of finals

i am so screwed upon hearing this news. there goes the last of my hope!

wow those admissions percentages are just.... wow. just imagine the sheer quality of all the applicants and having to choose one candidate over the other on basically nothing. hard job on the admissions committee and even harder on those of us who get rejected
