<p>what do you think of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence free online class that will be ofered this semester? I was looking around and it seems very interesting.</p>

<p>I’m going to try taking the AI and machine learning courses. If the work becomes too much, I’ll probably stay in whichever one is more interesting and stop working on the other.</p>
<p>FYI, the prereqs for the AI class are basic probability, basic linear algebra, and of course some programming skills.</p>
<p>This looks so cool! Too bad they didn’t do this yet this summer, where I had plenty of free time :(</p>

<p>You know what? Maybe you could actually get a <em>really</em> good shot at getting into a top school if you get a high percentile rank in the online course! Most of the traditional metrics (GPA, SATs) are useless since everyone who applies to elite schools already max out on them - but things like this certainly aren’t.</p>
<p>And there’s nothing holding you back from learning this stuff</p>
<p>is anyone going to try for the class? there are two tracks, a basic one and the “hard” one where on actually has to do HWs and midterm and final exam. do you think it would be too challenging to do the “hard” part of the class?</p>
<p>I’m taking it, or was planning too (the first hw was sort of ambiguous and I found the style of the lectures annoying).</p>
<p>I don’t think it will be too hard as long as you have the time to devote to the class. Judging from the first week, it might be well worth it to buy the book if you want to really learn the AI stuff.</p>
<p>It was not too hard to understand, the thing is that one has to be focused and pay concentrate on classes to learn. Read course materials, complete assignments and take quizzes and an exam for better learning.</p>
<p>I’m doing the databases classes and I’m really enjoying it :)</p>
