Stanford ai4all 2019

I noticed there wasn’t an active thread for Stanford’s ai4all program this summer. The decisions were supposed to come out April 1st but I have not received anything yet. Anybody else?

I haven’t gotten anything yet either.

Decisions re posted on the portal now. You just have to log in. Our kid was waitlisted :frowning:

I got in  and yeah ^ the decisions are posted now. I didn’t check until yesterday

Apparently there were very few scholarship spots this year? Has anyone else heard this?

@poyopopp If u don’t mind could you post your stats and extracurriculars? I was waitlisted so I was just wondering.

I don’t know how I got in. I don’t really participate in extracurriculars but I know a bit about programming and have my own little projects. I have all A’s besides the few B’s I got in advanced classes in middle school.

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):
Why you think you got accepted/waitlisted/denied:

Anything else:

Decision: rejected :frowning: oh well
GPA: currently 4.0 (seventh and eighth grade were 3.94)
Extracurriculars: teach myself math, astronomy, and piano, play volleyball, math club,
Awards/Notable Achievements (if any): created the first club at my middle school -Visual Arts Club, won 1st place in a small local astronomy decathlon.

Previous Summer Activities (if any): a few random week long stem programs
Your school type (public, private, charter, etc.): private

Rate your Short Answers (1-10): 8 because I felt pretty good about them and thought everything was very genuine.
Rate your Recommendations(1-10): 9 because I really like the teachers that recommended me and vice versa.

Strengths in application: I wholeheartedly talked about my personal passions and stories
Weaknesses in application: found 1 typo in a short answer a few weeks after submitting, I’m not sure if I wrote why I wanted to be in the program well enough
Ethnicity: White
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none
Why you think you got accepted/waitlisted/denied: I’m not too sure but it might have been my challenge problem answers although I felt decent about them, I also might have not been the demographic they were looking for

Anything else:

Decision:Accepted
GPA: 3.86
Extracurriculars: Went to a stem program that was taught by a person that went to Stanford but that’s it.
Awards/Notable Achievements (if any): none

Previous Summer Activities (if any): none
Your school type (public, private, charter, etc.): public

Rate your Short Answers (1-10): 8, I looked over them over and over before I submitted.
Rate your Recommendations(1-10): 10, they were great and said they were proud of me.

Strengths in application: I talked about how much I liked computer science and previous experience in middle school like robotics. I did well talking about diversity and how AI can be kept under our control since we’re far from actually developing one with super-intelligence.
Weaknesses in application: I worked on the challenge problems but I forgot to attach them.
Ethnicity:
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, parents out of jobs so we have low income
Why you think you got accepted/waitlisted/denied: I don’t know. They heavily talked about diversity so I’m guessing it’s probably because of where I’m from and how I grew up.

Anything else: On the previous experience section, I mentioned being able to finish assignments from their CS106a course.

Forgot ethnicity, I’m Filipino.
