<p>Was the early decision deadline for Stanford at the end of October/beginning of November?</p>
<p>I know some people who have found out they were accepted a bit more than a week ago.</p>
<p>Stanford doesn’t have early Decision.</p>
<p>The Early Action deadline was November 1, 2008 and results don’t come out till December 15, 2008.</p>
<p>People who have already found out of their acceptance are probably athletes or musicians.</p>

<p>Yes, definitely athletes and musicians. A girl in my class was recently signed (full ride!) to Duke for crew. It seems like the past week has been the time for recruits’ acceptances.</p>
<p>I have a really hard time with the jock recruits-do they even have to work hard on the admission essays?</p>

<p>I don’t think so either, but I wouldn’t particularly begrudge them of it. That kind of skill at a sport takes so much time commitment and practice; they’ve already proved their worth through that. I’m sure they work on their essays a decent amount, but they don’t need to use it as a primary vehicle to portray who they are/what they’re bringing to the school. They’re bringing exactly that - athletics.</p>
<p>Actually to my understanding, they’re still required to write good essays/scores. So, I wouldn’t begrudge them. Stanford is a place of more than one type of diversity. You’ve got world class athletes rooming with 1st generation immigrant farmers and well you can see where this is going.</p>
