What is the minimum number of Math classes you are required to take at Stanford? Also, how long do they last? Can you take more than one at the same time? I ask because Math is not my subject and I would really like to get the requirements over with as soon as humanly possible.

You must take a minimum of 1 to fulfill the mathematics disciplinary breadth general education requirement (GER). As far as I know, most are 1 hour long 3 days a week for the entirety of the quarter. Of course you can take more than 1 at a time but I wouldn't want to because the weekly problem sets are often graded for accuracy and not completeness. If you don't want to take calculus, there is probably a stats course that will fulfill the requirement.
If you want to get your GERs out of the way, think about taking intro seminars because many fulfill these without putting you into huge intro classes.
Good luck!

Yep. However, there are no intro sems satisfying the math requirement. (And even if they did, the math introsems are not appropriate for someone just trying to get out of a requirement.) Stats courses do satisfy it, as do logic courses (i.e. PHIL 50/150).

Can't help you there, sorry. The only one I took was Phil 151, which is the second course in the upper-level sequence. Phil 50 is the basic one (before the upper-level sequence), and you can find a not-very-helpful description of it here:

In 151, the peculiarity that I noticed was that math majors tended to cruise through it, while fuzzier types struggled. Phil 50 would be composed mostly of those fuzzier types, though. I think math and SymSys people usually skip straight to 150.

Word of advice: Unless you are a math genius or willing to spend your time 24/7 in the library, avoid math and other curve based numbers based courses at this school if you still want to get A's. You will be competing with an absurd number of grade obsessed asian study whores as well as your fair number of just plain old math genuises. I know that's not a politically correct way to describe things, but it sums up the situation quite accurately as anyone who has experience in such classes can attest.

Edit: take Stats 60 if you just want to fulfill the math GER

I detest Math; every other subject is fine, I can handle even the toughest of classes, but in Math I just want the easy credit and get out as fast as possible.

I HATE Stats, though! Is the course relatively easy for those not excellent in Math? Also, are there any classes that focus on geometry? I adore geometry, so I can handle that.

Yeah you can take stats 60 to get rid of the math requirement and stats could be useful in many fields. Or if you take Math 51 in the winter instead of fall it's not as bad. You can also take Math 19, which is beginning calculus I think.

No, I took Math 51 and 53 and I cannot attest to that. I am neither an Asian "study whore" nor am I a math genius, but I did find that offensive; it certainly was not a politically correct way to describe things. I can see some of the basic truth (there are some people who seem grade obsessed, many of them may be Asian, although I have yet to meet that many at all, and there are a bunch of math geniuses at Stanford, although most of those probably take the honors math series) behind what you said but, frankly, you could have easily put it in a much less offensive way. Also, by advising someone to stay away from certain classes if he/she still wants A's shows a concern for grades for the sake of grades just like you are criticizing kids in math classes for exhibiting.

You can look up classes in the math department at axess.stanford.edu (on the left there is a Guest Menu where you can search for classes) to see what other options there are! g'luck
