Stanford Application Audit

I recently learned that Stanford audits applications. This shouldn't be a problem, since there isn't anything wrong with my application. However, my school requires me to pay for all materials that must be processed by the school (i.e. literally anything that has to go through the counselor). So, I have a few questions, since this might have a big impact on the financial costs of my application:

1) What is the chance that I even have to think about an audit.

2) How does the audit work (do they ask the counselor, ask the school, contact me personally for proof, or contact the organizations on my app).

3) How much stuff / what stuff do they check? Will I have to process materials for literally everything on my app...

Thanks!

1) It’s probably something you shouldn’t worry about until it happens, and then you shouldn’t worry about it unless you have something to hide.

2) They’ll contact your post-high school counselor, and I think they’ll notify you.

3) They probably don’t check everything. And it wouldn’t make sense for them to publicly reveal what they check ahead of time; doing so would give those who want to engage in application fraud a green light to lie on the non-validated parts of the application. So I don’t think this information is out there.

I doubt you would have to process more materials, or pay for the processing.
