Hi everyone!
I am stressed out because when I logged into my Stanford Portal, it said that my application was submitted on January 4, and my materials arrived on January 5. However, I applied via the Common Application by the deadline of January 3. Could this be a lag in the system? Will this negatively affect my application?
There seemed to be no problem indicated in either the common application or the Stanford portal. I am just concerned.
I doubt it will, I even read somewhere that Cornell doesn’t mind if your app is no more than 1 day late. If you are worried just email them.
^That’s not true, people in ED submitted late and were accepted . I don’t recommend turning in your application late lol but yeah they’ll still probably read it.
@collegegirl2016 I have heard a few times that Stanford is the exception in that they are very strict about deadlines compared to other elite colleges. I would repost this thread in the Stanford section to see if you can get more responses from CC members more familiar with Stanford.
There’s absolutely no need to worry. Here’s why (the same thing happened for me).
If you submitted your application anytime AFTER 11:59PM EST on 1/3/2016 but BEFORE 11:59 in your local timezone, the CommonApp says you submitted the application on January 4––not January 3. However, you still met the deadline of January 3 since that deadline is at the end of the day for your timezone. Stanford then downloaded your file on 1/5.
