Hey y'all...I dont know how to improve my chances of getting into Boston University's school of management. Somewhere they said that there is a 44% acceptance rate which isn't too bad but I'm still scared.
I want to apply for this television management program which is an ms/mba from BU. and need to get into the school of management in order to be considered for the other aspect of the program.
Now..I am at stanford and its a challenging school. I'm just not sure how much that name would work for me. I'm gonna end up around a 2.8/2.7 which is like a b- here. But havent really been involved in groups or taken on leadership positions. But i act and have been in alot of performances(the only thing is that you don't have presidents or vp's of casts. :)
I'm just wondering if there are any tips to make my application more appealing to BU's school of management
Sincerely,
...the girl desperate to be in the class of 2009 at BU

Firstly, work experience is almost a must when applying to a recognizable b-school.

Secondly, I thought Stanford was known for rampant grade inflation?

I am going to have a year off but would really like to keep and enter the school in '07. I'm possibly going to have a job next year but its going to be as a literary assistant(i'm crossing my fingers waiting for the yes). Ha..I wish stanford was known for grade inflation. I could have definitely had a better grade if i didnt take a while to grow up.
But, no...I know that princeton got flak for rampant grade inflation but its pretty much on the up and up here

just curious........how does one go to Stanford and pull a 2.7...like didn't u need to have amazing grades to get in there out of high school.

Someone needs to be towards the bottom of the class.

Oh, I don't know about that. I don't want to make you feel bad, but Stanford ain't exactly the hardest grading school in the world. At least you're passing your classes. There are plenty of students at, say, MIT or Caltech, who aren't even passing.

Doesn't Stanford lead the nation in grade inflation?

Seems to me anyone under a 3.0 at Stanford is in the bottom of the class:

I know this is annecdotal observation and not emperical data but two of my friends graduated #1 and 2 in my high school class and are currently at Stanford. They told me that it's very hard to get an A but almost as hard to get a C. Although, they are majoring in biochemistry and chemistry so i'm sure that plays a part considering they're balancing ECs with their rigorous courseload.

damn you people need to stop beating down on this girl...stanford accepted her for some reason.

you know that the average millionaire in the US has an average sat under 1200??? GPA means nothing after your first job. period.

I can bet you that she's going to be more successful than most asians from top schools that end up as back office number crunchers because they have no personality or people skills.

Bern700. I agree with you. I am not beating down on anyone, I think the brand name of her school will carry her into a good B-school anyway.

Nice. bern700. gotta really love the sterotypical racism there.

White people are always magically born with beautiful communication skills.

You denounce bern700 for his sterotypical racism, yet in the latter part of your comment you used it as he did. Nice work.

I'm just telling it like it is...asians (east) in general have very poor people skills. btw I'm not white :)

Bern, the millionaire stat is weak. Tons of millionaires are made by athletics, or by hand me downs.

exactly.......

there are close to 9 million millionaire households (net worth exceeding 1m excluding primary home worth) in the US with the majority not being earned by celebrities nor inherited...

btw I should have clarified the initial stat... that's the SAT score for Self-Made millionaires (you should read the book, millionaire mind, it's actually pretty good...)

oh really...startling fact just goes to show tht marks arent everything...

that's all i was trying to prove as people on this forum were bashing this girl for having average grades at an elite school...
