Stanford Class of 2017 RD Discussion

Here we are :D

I don't think another thread like this exists yet, at least not for the RD applicants.

let's go Cardinals !

Cardinal*

The mascot isn’t a bird.

Oh I am so glad this thread is here! I need a place to vent my excitement (or languish) for admissions in march:)

Well, realistically, most of us will be facing rejections!

Can’t believe it is still 3 months away!

I haven’t submitted my app yet, haha :o

I just submitted mine a day or two ago.

Never mind. Just submitted it. ^_^

party time

About to submit. Just need to refine my essays. It’s nerve wracking :X

Are we at a disadvantage for submitting our app last minute?

I still need to do those three short essay things.
I’ll submit Sunday. Meh. I’ll most likely get rejected, but that’s okay.

You never know alexissss, I’ve heard of the most random people who get into Stanford. :slight_smile: I just hope Stanford can see the potential I really have, but my crap essays aren’t helping.

What’s wrong with your essays? T_T

Yeah, I’m hoping any of my colleges can see past my test scores. I’m not stupid. Promise. LOL

I’m applying here! :D

Sophomore but graduating this year. Strong ACT, GPA, and extracurriculars, but two weak SAT Subject Tests (like beyond weak). But since they’re optional, I hope it won’t defeat my shots. I feel I’m a solid candidate. But we’ll see where I stand come March.

I’m very fond of my essays. :P

purwou, you don’t have to send your Subject Tests if you don’t want to… if it will hurt your application then you shouldn’t.

Oh and my essays aren’t terrible, they just don’t portray myself very well.

Too late for that, the scores were sent before I had the chance to view them. =/

I feel fine about it though. It’s the truth–I sometimes don’t test well. But I make up for that with my great grades in math and science classes and my other test scores. So it’s all good. :)

thats good! :slight_smile: I feel the same way… my test doesn’t show it but my grades do…

did you send in your application yet? I am too worried that I messed up on something or that I should edit my essays one last time, so I never hit the “submit” button :/

I’m waiting for a response from somebody I know on one of my essays, then I’ll submit. Hopefully tomorrow. I’ll have all my letters of rec in by the 7th. :)

I hope my first semester senior grades aren’t that big of a deal…

Somewhat of a downward trend, in one class I went from a B+ to a B.

For all those who are wondering, yes that other thread was about me, shh!

Do you guys think it’s that big of a deal? I know it certainly doesn’t help, but it’s not a deal breaker right?

Yeah, I was kinda upset that scores were sent out before I got to see them. They make me look like a slacker.

@magnet
Know it shouldn’t be a deal breaker! Some kids get in with As and Bs, some get rejected with 4.0s. It all depends.

I think that’s what stresses me most. I can’t predict my chances accurately. :</p>

@tara
Ohhh, I see. I can only hope my essays convey my personality well!
