@WhatsStanford That sucks! At least the other schools that you send it to will see the better essay. When I went on common app, here is the verification statement that you check when you submit:
So from that, I’m guessing you’re going to have to contact the school…but they’ve already dissected your essay, you know what I mean? They’ve already seen your first one, so I’m not really sure a new common app essay would help. But I have no experience with this so take what I’ve said with a grain of salt lol

Hey, @BlairSt06 ! Good luck, and you have got to teach me how to do that star thingy!

@chandelure I’m sorry to hear that. I know there’s nothing that an anonymous poster from probably a different state can say to try and make things better, so I won’t try. I do want to say however, that you didn’t spend 7 years on Stanford. You spent them on yourself, to enrich yourself and make yourself the best possible person you can be. That is the only thing anyone can do. And Stanford’s not good enough for you. I don’t care if someone went to Stanford or the local community college, a school doesn’t define them. I wish you the best of luck in the RD round and know you’ll do great

I totally agree, @KelMoo !! Also, sometimes I feel really empowered and confident, and then a couple minutes later, I feel like “OMG I have to wait until the end of March! What if I don’t get in?!?!? What if I don’t get in anywhere?!” Ugh it’s frustrating. But although I hate being deferred, I am obviously very appreciative and fortunate to have not been flat-out rejected.

@sjsprint Yeah, like I’ve definitely been given sour looks from people when I complain about being deferred, but it’s honestly so annoying. Like at least with rejection, people can move on. It’s set in stone. Deferment is just unneeded stress. I don’t know what to send in for the Update Form. My life isn’t interesting. I have no major awards. Someone whom I follow on Tumblr who was deferred and then accepted to Stanford said that she didn’t send in any updates. Can this happen to me as well? Haha

@Govgirl @KelMoo How are you guys doing on the rest of your apps? I’ve submitted all of mine except MIT, and it feels great being almost done. Even though I hated doing all this work, I must admit that working on my other apps helped me get my mind off of Stanford and my deferral, which was nice. Also, how are you guys planning on dealing with this 3-month wait?!

Is not dealing with the 3 month wait an option @sjsprint ? I have never been a patient person, ever lol. As for apps, I have all of mine in except Johns Hopkins, UVA, and Brown. I honestly didn’t think I would be this productive during the break.

D submitted application yesterday. We only got two emails from Common App Support Team:
(1) One email confirms the successful payment of the application fee,
(2) The other one confirms successfully submitted your Common Application for First Year students to Stanford University.

Should we got some email from Stanford to get some tracking number to check status?

Hey @2019mom , congrats and good luck to your daughter!

You should get an email soon with instructions about how to check your application status. Stanford doesn’t have a portal; you have to log on to a site and enter her email, and Stanford will email you an update on all of your materials:

@sjsprint i’m with @emenya… def not dealing. but mainly i was distracting myself with other apps (as of 10 minutes ago finished with that #poorplanning) and trying to figure what to write on my update form.

@sjsprint I have all done except for my Brown and UPenn applications. I’ve been working on my Brown app since July. UPenn… well, tbh I’ve been procrastinating with that one. I was admitted to Michigan so that kind of alleviated some of the pain I felt from my deferral, but it still stings haha. Congrats on getting most of yours done! I plan on dealing with this three month wait by eating.

@KelMoo Eating sounds good to me; food is always the solution to any problem. And congrats on Michigan! I’m with you on Penn though, I just decided to apply yesterday (crazy, I know) and wrote my essay in a day… (pulling the intro and conclusion from some other essays though)

Hey, again, guys!
I just noticed that I forgot to self-report all of my SAT/ACT scores on the Common App, however, I did send all of my SAT/ACT official scores reports to Stanford. But, I was wondering, should I contact them and let them know so that they can make note of it? Will they hold no self-reporting all of my scores against me?
