***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

Hi everyone, I am an international student intending to apply REA for fall 2020. I would like to know if Stanford is looking for any specific type of applicants or what contribution those applicants are able to provide to the college?
@Join20 if not mistaken they are increasing 200 spots for each subject?
@weizhong @afamelas Where do you guys get the essay prompt from? Thank you so much and all the best :slight_smile:

@Fairplay01 We actually discussed the type of applicant thing here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18659685

As for the essay prompts, I got those when I actually applied.

@Fairplay01 Hello!
For undergraduate admissions, all essay prompts can be found here:
http://admission.stanford.edu/application/freshman/essays.html

@afamelas thanks! Those prompts are for 2020 applicants? Because commonapp have not released their prompts have they? Thanks!
@weizhong thanks so much!

@Fairplay01 common app has released their prompts. You can find those on the common app website, though they are fairly similar, if not the exact same, as those on the website linked above.

Small-town Californian here, applying EA! Nervousness
Yeah, I’ve written (well, not 100% edited, but written) all of my essays. I actually may change one, but that’s for the UCs anyways so it doesn’t apply here.
The more I’ve been researching Stanford, the more I want to be accepted/matriculate and such. Just a mix of excitement and worry over the whole process, and I mostly just want it to be December so I’ll find out. (Or be deferred and find out in the spring, but hopefully I’ll found out in December).
I dunno much what else to say, besides good luck to everyone applying!

Does anyone know if a dual-enrollment professor can count as one of the teacher rec’s?

Applying regular here… :slight_smile: Best of luck to all of you and congrats, @DL43516 !

@Dream0n and/or @weizhong
When did you find out about your financial aid packages? Was it around when you found out acceptance (if you got accepted, sorry if I was assuming) or did you find out in springtime when colleges release stuff for RD?

@MasterLillyclaw I found out a little less than a week after I was notified of my admission. I applied REA, not sure when the ED financial aid packages come out.

I’m applying REA, and honestly, I love the Stanford essay prompts! I especially enjoyed writing the letter to roommate essay because it felt so genuine. I wish everyone else who is also applying the best of luck!

I am apply REA as we’ll, and first and foremost, good luck to all of you guys!!! I am so excited and nervous, I won’t be taking my SATs and ACT until about November I’m thinking, so a little worried about that.

@qwertyopik good luck on your SATs and ACT! The essays are proving to be the most difficult part for me. I just don’t know how to shrink my essays down to abide by the 250 word limit. I’m hoping I’ll figure it out soon. :-SS

Im applying REA… though im a US citizen, I live in India so im still general pool (phew).

To everyone asking about supplements, theyre in the common app. Seem pretty fun to write tbh.
Im really hopeful for the increase in class size too. Best of luck to everyone applying!

Applying REA here

The application season already has me SO NERVOUS.

Hope to see yall at the Farm!

REA here too, 2260 (800CR780W680M), 3.9UW, 800 on lit and bio subjects, solid essays, URM, I’m excited (to get rejected (: (: (: )

@johnnyisgod I feel the same way, it just seems so impossible to get in! You’ve got really good stats though! I’m 35 ACT (36M33E35R34S), 3.9 UW, 4.7 W, and taking my subjects in October!

@afamelas Thanks man, though I’m sure we’ll both get into great places (even if we don’t get into Stanford).

I have a question:

The deadline for SEA applicants with art supplements is Oct 15. What is the deadline for documents from counselor and teachers - Oct 15 or Nov 1, or can be even later?

@Canoon I believe that all documents must be submitted by the 1st of November for REA.
