***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

@ibiii17 I think you should! stanford loves a diverse student body!

Submitted my application today! PSH, a long wait ahead. All the best mates! May we see each other on the farm

@hopefulmuch you must feel very accomplished! I have everything ready to go, but I just can’t bring myself to actually submit my app :-SS

@afamelas We all try my friend! I’ve been having the jitters ever since I submitted it. Well 67 long days of waiting.

Chances? I really like Stanford, but I don’t want to waste my early action if it’s unreasonable to get in. I have strong academics (36 ACT, 3.99 GPA UW, National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar with Honor), but my extracurriculars are all over the board, ranging from running to editing a literary magazine to dance. My only leadership is teaching dance classes and I’m secretary for a few clubs. I also know I won’t be able to finish my arts supplement in time. Will that hurt me if a lot of my application is focused on dance? I’m not very good so I’m not pursuing it for a major or anything. I couldn’t afford to do anything special over the summer, and I got rejected from the two free programs I applied to, so I didn’t do much. I’m really worried about my writing being weak though. Should go for it or try somewhere else? (I’m applying RD regardless)

@cccrazy2016 a Stanford admission officer once told me that if everyone applying was an extensive leader in their community that there would be no one to follow them. I think the best part about Stanford is they look to make a well rounded environment by not necessarily seeking out well rounded students. Your academics are very impressive and can land you somewhere good regardless. If you’re sure of a passion you have and can write about it convincingly, then I would definitely go EA at Stanford.

Just submitted my application woohoo! Applied SCEA with an arts supplement (piano). I did all of my supplemental short essays over the weekend, but both teachers who saw it today were blown away… hoping for the best. Good luck everyone!!!

Applied EA. December 15th can’t come soon enough!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh a week away. Still have two more essays to write (three if you include the EC essay). I have a basic idea of what I want to say for those three essays but every time I sit down to write them the words won’t come out.
Someone please tell me I’m not the only one

I haven’t started the supplemental essays at all, just completed the 50 word responses. That said, I have a 4 day weekend heading into the deadline.

I started my app beginning September and have been hitting it hard since after the SAT.

I’ve completed every essay but they need some touching up! Which essay did you guys find the hardest? I thought they were all fun to write but had trouble fitting the “what matters most to you, and way” essay into 250 words.

Good luck to everyone.

@Perbler I had the opposite problem with that supplement! I had trouble finding what else to say. The supplement I found most difficult was definitely the intellectual vitality one. I just had so many ideas for that one, and 250 words was no where near enough to suffice my needs. But I’ve somehow completed them all, and they’re exactly 250 words each, which I found kinda funny. ;))

Applying REA! I have it all finished, but im just too scared to submit it haha

How many people here are applying/have applied REA?

Hey all! I applied REA to Stanford a few weeks ago to make the arts portfolio deadline!

Honestly, the wait has been killing me… not sure I can stand the anticipation for 47~ more days. I’ve even been obsessively combing through the submitted app to reassure myself (attempted, perhaps not so successful) that everything is OK.

Planning to take up meditation or some other bs coping mechanism. What is everyone else doing for distraction?

I’m not quite done with my app, but as soon as I am, I’m going to pump out my UC apps in a couple weeks, then I’m going to forget about it all and enjoy my last year as a high schooler

Just submitted my app last night and the anxiety of knowing I could have made a mistake has been gnawing at me. But yeah, I’m just gonna focus on writing all my other college apps and get my mind off these things

Submitted. :}{

I applied REA in mid-October. I had all my essays done in September but ended up changing three of them at the last second. How’s everyone feeling about their applications?
