***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

Penn just said that they will release their ED results on December 11.

A couple friends submitted their apps on Nov 1 and they have interviews already. I submitted my app in mid-October for the arts supplement deadline but I haven’t been contacted yet; should i be worried?

Stanford interviews are optional.

@texaspg How optional? So optional that if I get one, I can reject it? I really wish I don’t get an interview, just more unnecessary stress,

Based on an email I have seen, the interviewer was asking the applicant to decide. I am not sure it is being mentioned that way to those who received the emails here.

I read somewhere that it is optional and if you dont do it it wont hurt you. I’m not 100% sure though so do more research haha

I was reading about interview etiquette and then realized that Stanford interviews aren’t available in California…awkward :expressionless:

Does anyone know how we will be notified of our admission decision? Is it by email? Does Stanford send likely letters?

It’s by email for sure and then I would assume a physical letter after

…Because you need a physical rejection letter after all!

I’m curious, what is it about stanford that you guys like :)?

@Perbler The fact that people are ready to think about stuff. And because it’s Palo Alto, people have seen others doing the impossible, so no matter how improbable something is, if someone is determined enough, they would try to do it, and the university will help.
[On a non super emotional side, the weather, the campus, they care about the kids, and the super duper chill environment (even though I’m sure everyone is equally scared and tensed af)]. :))

I have a question about outside letters of recs. So like most colleges, Stanford allows for a third rec, but I just read on their website that it has to be faxed? Did anybody do that? I thought all Stanford needed was for us to assign the rec on CA.

I don’t think it has to be faxed. I’ve already added a third recommender (who has already submitted the recommendation on the Common App) and I think it’s fine.

I just spent an entire weekend at Stanford, and I don’t think I’ve ever fallen more in love with a community’s atmosphere. The school encompasses everything I want it to, and exceeds my expectations. I can only hope for the best at this point, but this super low acceptance rate is making me want to cry already!!

Does anyone know if they will send the emails on 15th Dec or before that?

^ Seems like from last year’s thread at least people were getting results (not questbridge) as early as the 12th. Not sure what date they said they would release last year though.

Oops double posted.

@hellolol I applied from Bangalore.

@potatoheadhala Cool. Even I scheduled my interview today. Best of luck!

Has everyone gotten their email from the University confirming receipt of their Common App?
I submitted my app on 10/27 (it was downloaded by the school from Common App a few days later) and I received the confirmation from Common App but not the one from the school itself. The admissions page says it can take up to 3 weeks for the email to come but I’m just wondering if I should be concerned if most of you have heard back.
