@vasodys I am Chinese, but I’m applying from Athens, Greece.
@Helium9 That’s cool! My grandparents live in Athens
@vasodys Wonderful! Athens is a great place. There should be a few Stanford applicants from Athens this year, but I have not found anybody in this thread.
@Helium9 I’m from Cyprus. I’m not sure if there’s anyone else applying to Stanford from Cyprus, but I certainly haven’t heard of anyone.
@vasodys Believe it or not, I’ve lived in Cyprus for a few years. A classmate of mine applied to Stanford with me, and both of us did our interviews already. It’d be interesting to see how that turns out.
@Helium9 That’s cool. They don’t have interviews in Cyprus though.
@vasodys I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the interview. I was also able to learn a lot about Stanford from the process that I would not have been able to otherwise.
Hello everyone. I have applied REA as a dual citizen (American-Turkish) from Ankara, Turkey. Still could not find anyone who applied REA from Turkey. Hoping to find someone on College Confidential.
Good luck to everybody who applied and will apply.
@vasodys I studied in English system through primary, transferred to Italian public which is (at least imo) way better, and then spent last year, my 4th of high school out of 5, abroad in the US.
@Zarnor welcome! I’m a double citizen (actually triple, US- Italian- Russia) too lol
Can’t wait for 2 weeks still guys, I’m dying
It sounds like there are a lot of international applicants!
Personally, I’m from Montreal, but reside now in Chicago where I do the IBDP at a French school!
and im from California… sighs
@callmegray Isn’t it easier if you’re from California than International? Especially because Stanford is need blind for US citizens but not for internationals, it’s harder to get in if you don’t have the money.
I was just looking at the stats and 32.9% of Stanford students are from CA
Being a CA resident/US citizen definitely has many advantages here.
I’m also wondering, what majors are all of you applying for? And what are some of your other choices in terms of universities?
@Helium9 I want to study Computer Science. I’m mainly applying to CA schools like UCB UCLA UC Davis and USC as well as others. What about you?
@vasodys I want to study Mechanical Engineering. I’m mainly applying to CA schools as well… I just sent my applications to a few UC schools (UCB, UCLA, and a few more), and a few CSU campuses (my safety schools).
@Helium9 I’m going to be sending mine to USC and the UC schools by next week.
I’m definitely going into compsci as well.
But Stanford doesn’t put any weight into intended major, correct?
@alr33zy I have no idea, but if that’s true, that’s fantastic?
@alr33zy I don’t know anything about that, and I don’t really know how to feel if that was the case.
