@Chips99 I applied Mechanical Engineering and took Math 2 (800) and Chem (800)…
I got 1490 on the SAT, and 800 on both physics and math 2 subject tests… But I did put great emphasis on the fact that I have lived in 4 countries and my health condition…
@December9th2016 That should give you a good boost then!
@December9th2016 I feel - I have a 33 composite / 34 SS. I don’t have any big hooks either.
Keep in mind that a 33/34 is still 99th percentile. I’m almost positive that it won’t hurt you a lot, if at all.
But I was also worried, so I took SAT Physics and Math 2 and got 800 on both.
Wow you guys have some incredible stats!
Alright y’all what if I’m applying as an anthropology major and kinda bombed one of my subject tests? 710 literature 570 Spanish haha ouch
My testing history is such a mess but my GPA is bomb so I mean?
As I have always said, it probably comes down to essays and recommendations…Do your teachers let you see their letters? I have no clue if mine were good or not.
as far as i know subject tests arent a big factor
doesnt stanford value essays more?
im pretty sure you cant see recommendations if u waived ferpa
@chips99 did you report those tests?
@callmegray I mean did your teachers share them with you?
I hope you guys are right because I honestly loved my essays! I waived my right to see the recommendations and never really bothered my recommenders about breaking the rule and reading them anyway but I’m really close with all of them (counselor included) so I’m hopeful
@December9th2016 I did report them - they came in the big mega-report I had the College Board send to all my colleges haha
@Chips99 Same…I have great relationships, but I’m not sure how capable they are at writing lol
oh, i dont want to read them
itll make me too nervous tbh
it’s out of my hands anyway
@chips99 I sent all of mine, but did you report them on the common app? The bad scores don’t matter unless you reported them on the common app, or so my counselors say.
@December9th2016 Thanks. Great job to you as well. You scores will definitely help you. I applied for Mechanical Engineering as well.
We shouldn’t really be worrying about these things now… Plus, the people at Stanford knows that nobody is perfect. Let’s just take our minds off of this matter for now, and concentrate on other things that we have to do. If we try to be productive during the next week and get many things completed, time should pass by quicker. That said, it is much easier said than done.
@Helium9 Although that makes complete sense, I cannot focus on anything but this right now! I’m not sure how to get motivated until this is over…I’ll try to go do some homework now.
@CiteYourSources I completely agree with what you said on cultural diversity.
Cultural background is a hook that is totally underrated. Very few applicants, especially those applying from the US, actually possess a unique background (which is funny because a lot of people in this thread are international and come from exotic places).
Personally, I’m from Montréal, although I’ve spent my entire life at a French school in Chicago (where I now pursue a bilingual IB program in French and English). I also picked up Mandarin in 6th grade and spent 4+ months abroad at a boarding school in Zhengzhou.
