I applied to most UC schools and depending on the Stanford decision I’ll apply to some other colleges, mostly in CA/

Does anybody know how heavily Stanford weighs the SAT essay?
@IvyBound0211 My guess is as good as any, but I’d say probably not. Seeing as how the personal essays play such a significant role in Stanford’s application process, a slightly sub par SAT essay shouldn’t mean too much.
@IvyBound0211 most schools will just care about your SAT composite score, many will even disregard writing and only look at Math + CR. If you’re worrying that Stanford will read your SAT essay then you have nothing to fear lol, they already have 5 more essays to evaluate you on that are far more telling about your ability to express yourself.
@moroccan99 With SAT 1350/1600, it is a stretch for Stanford without any serious hooks. Even with 1550 plus /1600, I think it is 1 in 30 chance.
@grtd2010 I thought that being Moroccan could be considered as a hook but it’s not the case I guess…
@grtd2010 isn’t it closer to 1 in 11? The REA acceptance rate last year was 9.5% (unless you’re referring to RD admission?)
@Partynals2017 @njg00n I’m not worried that Stanford will look at my essay score. In fact, I’d like them to considering I received a 23/24 (not meaning to gloat). Do you think that score with a 1430 on the new SAT with hinder me from getting accepted?
@IvyBound0211 I think that depends on the rest of your application. What are your other stats/ECs/hooks, if you don’t mind me asking?
@njg00n The 9.5% is mostly because of candidates with legacy and other hooks during REA. For normal applicants, I think, it is same acceptance rate whether REA or RD (0.0364 last year). Where r u in NJ ?
@Ivybound11 I think you have a great chance of getting in, just as most of the applicants. There is no way that anything on your application could prevent you from getting in, unless you wrote down racist/sexist/disrespectful things in your essays. That is, the only thing that can grant you a rejection is another (technically just as good as you) applicant’s admission

Thank you @MyNameIsMichael ! @njg00n I am ranked 4/385, have a collected 150 hrs of community service w/ one nonprofit organization, live in RI, and am submitting a dance portfolio. My dance career has lead me to film commercially, do runway shows, and win many national titles. I am in two honors societies at my school. I was adopted. I dance and do gymnastics for 25+ hrs/week. (I don’t know if these are considered hooks, just highlighting some successes). I think my dance portfolio will be most helpful considering my technical excellence and the rarity of a male dancer.

I took only one subject test rather than 2 or 3. I feel that that will mess me up the most…i didnt even do well i got a 710
