Stanford Class of 2022 Discussion/Decisions

Starting this thread early. Stanford have mercy on us…

Let’s get real though… who’s applying REA??

Maybe, I’m deciding between Stanford and Harvard EA.

I was deciding between MIT EA and Stanford REA. I think I’m gonna go with Stanford though because well… it’s Stanford!

I would say apply EA to wherever you would be crazy not to go to if you got in but… I think that applies for all of these schools… How about making the decision off of whoever has the lowest RD acceptance rate? (ie. Stanford lol)

If I got into both, then I would pick Harvard over Stanford. That’s why i’m leaning to applying Harvard EA.

I got into both, but I chose Stanford… My brother applied EA at Harvard and he got in, but he’s leaning towards MIT right now. Still waiting on Stanford, though (he thought he had a better chance of getting early at Harvard than at MIT/Stanford)

I’m deciding between Harvard EA and Stanford REA too. Stanford has been my dream school, but the low deferral rate frightens me. I think I’m considered URM at Harvard, but not Stanford (Filipino). I’m not too sure though. Stanford seems to have a large Filipino community while Harvard has very little Filipino students.

I should also mention that I’m from the Bay Area

@MatthewW12 I think that it’s better to have a lower deferral rate because it lets you look at other options in case you get rejected. Schools with high deferral rates are really only stringing you along for a few months. That’s also one of the reasons I’m probably gonna go with Stanford. (Plus I’d pick it over MIT. I mean have you seen the campus heaven on earth?!)

@mattheww12 Fillipino=Asian, so not URM, more like ORM (over represented minority)

How much does RSI play a part in applying to non Ivies such as Stanford?

@anonymous0320 Ummm… a lot! Of course, it’s not a guarantee, but I think it really gives you credit as a researcher. That said, publishing a paper in a high-impact journal might be equivalent or even better, but I’m an international, so what do I know?

Haha nice. I heard Stanford only like “quirky” and “weird” essays…

I am scared to apply ED to any ivies because I’m afraid I won’t be able to pay

@pinkbarbie You can always apply EA.

@Tobster18 I believe some ivies don’t have EA? It’s either Stanford or Columbia that only offer ED and RD

@pinkbarbie Oh yeah, I forgot about Columbia. I’m pretty sure Stanford is EA.
